Widows & Widowers Support Group
This community is dedicated to those who have lost a husband, wife, or partner. Anything is open for discussion here, with the hope that we can focus on grief, bereavement, life after loss, and continuing on after a great loss.
Just thought I would join this group now that I am a widower. My wife passed away May 28th. She was "The Wind Beneath My Wings". When I met her, I was a drunken, dope smoking, fighting, hell raising biker. She told me if I could get rid of the inner storm within me, that I could be a blessing to people. God placed her in my path to stop me. I have been drug and alcohol free now for 53 yrs., this coming Sept.
She was my everything. Numerous times a day, every day, I told her I loved her. Just a few hours before she died, I said "I love you" and she nodded her head, "yes". I rubbed her face and said, "You are my sweetie, always have been, always will be". She whispered "I know". She passed away a few hours later.
I can find things to do during the day but, when the sun goes down, and it gets dark. it gets lonely. Just me and my little old dog now. She is old and sleeps a lot. There is such a void. such a feeling of needing someone here with me to talk to. I text her sister and some people from my church just to have conversation for a little while.
just thought I'd join this group for a while. I have been here on DS for over 20 yrs.or more. Thanks for letting me just say a few words here.

It's been some time since my last post...sorry. I've been going through a challenging time with the sale of my home, purchase of a condo and my adult asperger son that lives with me. I've had days where I couldn't get out of bed, days where I stayed in my pj's and days where all I managed to do was eat, drink fluids and take care of my Sweet Mia kitty. Sweet Mia came to me from a shelter about...

If I come to DS and it won't do anything when I click "Login", I go to a post, click and then click "Leave a Reply". Then it will let me log in.Of course, sometimes DS just goes to "Error 504". Then I can't log in.

I'm glad, and you give yourself a pat on the back for getting up and going to keep busy during the day...that's more than I do atm. Taking care of your little dog...furbabies are So Important!!!
I don't know how social you are, but if your town has a senior center that might be a place to go to for meals and conversation...just a thought.
Take Good Care, Peace Strength and Healing To You!!
This site is a safe space. Here, you can say what you want, or need to get out. Try to start thinking more about yourself, and what you want going forward. In this last year, I have been filling a big hole with little pebbles, like reconnecting with neglected friends and family members, and rediscovering lost hobbies.
I wish you peace and strength, brother.
