new year new me

I'm not sure if I have posted on here about my goals for this year but I told my therapist I want to find the new me. Do things that I wouldn't normally do or go places ,new adventures. Its coming up on 6 months and I'm feeling like this grief monster is going away and I'm learning to accept Steven ain't coming back and he would want me to live life to the fullest.

I am currently on my first solo vacation ever. I flew for the 2nd time ever yesterday and I'm proud that I was able to make it within the airports by myself and relied only on me. Man Atlanta airport was huge. But I was able to make to my destinations safe and got my rental last night and made it to the hotel without any issues.

But I was so tired but then I didn't get much sleep. Even though I went on the cruise 2 months ago I was with family and my friends. I slept like a baby. New city new me just couldt sleep last night. which is not like me.

I'm visiting some friends in Daytona Beach,Florida were a week. First time to be in Florida.

Scottie told me to stay away from the sharks lol (he was meaning the men sharks, not the animals)

I was cracking up laughing when he told me that in a message he sent me.

WOW - I am totally impressed with your strength. The first year Al passed, all I wanted to do was stay in our home and relive memories. Now it is going on the second year and I am moving to a new home for "me". I will get settled and next winter plan to venture out traveling alone like you have done.

I hope you are having a wonderful time.

have a great time!! I'm going to Vegas next month with my Daughter and Sister. We are driving. I'm still too scared to do the trip alone so I asked but my daughter and sister to fly into the local airport and we are driving to Vegas from there. Its only about a 5 hour trip but I'm still too scared to do it alone. Next time I will. Congrats on your trip alone. Hugs Arlene

I just got back from vegas and phoenix with my daughter. we saw a couple shows, did some shopping and lot of sightseeing it was fun. I felt like i got a little bit of me back. enjoy your trip! Patti

I just got back from Vegas a few days ago and I did not have a good time but it is because we always went there togetherI need now to find trips that we did not do together...

Well done!! You are SO brave and YOU CAN DO THIS!!

I know how hard it can be .. I did my first solo trip last October and found the eating dinner on my own in a hotel dining room full of couples absolutely dreadful (luckily a couple of days in and another "solo" lady arrived and we became "dinner buddies"). I've just booked another solo holiday for May and hopefully it will be easier this time. I have to say that I don't think I could go back to places we went to as a couple but that leaves me quite a few Greek Islands to explore on my own.

Congrats. to everyone who is venturing out on your own. I've done some traveling without Morey and it's been okay.....not perfect but okay! I loved traveling with him. We were like two kids exploring the world. No matter how old we got or how simple the trip we always felt like newlyweds.

I haven't gone to Vegas by myself yet. We loved going there together. We loved the drive, stopping at our favorite restaurant in Pearblossom and talking about years gone by and our plans for the future........We loved each others company.

Happy trails to everyone who is finding their footing and going out and about!

Patty the new you is not defined by what you do, as much as who you are inside. You are an adventurer, brave, positive, and trying to live life to the fullest. None of those things are bad. I flew to WA to see scottie, and that was scarey, luckily he wasn't a shark, more like a dolphin, very smart, loving, and loved adventure. But he likes cofffee a little much, lol. Have fun and you have to post updates. Have fun, and enjoy.. because in a blink of an eye... much love and big hugs carla

(Sorry Patty, not trying to hijack you're post) -- Carla, on 2nd thought I like being king of the ocean so you're not in trouble at all. I like the name Flipper -- ain't ever met anyone with nickname (probably for good reason!). Now when people say, He's flippin nuts. I can respond, No, I'm Flipper!

lol, well I couldve said your like a whale, or a sea otter, or a perch.. lol.. something tells me youll be ok with being referred to as a dolphin, besides everyone loves flipper the dolphin, except for the fishermen, lol...
