I am so sorry for your loss. You will be in that fog for a while. It lifts a little at a time. You'll be forgetful and at times you'll think you are losing your mind. It's all normal. I remember when the fog started lifting and the reality of it all came to me, I wanted to be some where that I could just scream to the top of my lungs. This is a long road you are walking take it slow. Don't try to rush it. The only way to go through it is to let it happen. We are all here to help each other. If it weren't for the people on this site I would have lost my mind. My husband was killed in an accident 2 years and 3 months ago, I really can't believe it's been that long ago. You can do this too. Just take your time and grieve, don't let anyone tell you how to do it. Do it your way. Drink lots of water to replace what you're losing and make yourself eat. For some reason if you don't eat an drink it makes it worse. Come here often. Read other post, it helps

thank you so much for this.... i have noticed that my water intake has been huge throughout this whole ordeal. Im not drinking alcohol either and don't many any plans to do so

I am so deeply sorry for your loss. Losing our husband is the hardest thing we can live through. It involves much more than losing a person we love, but the loss of our life as we knew it. I remember the loss of our future was devastating. It's truly a day at a time and often moment by moment. Let yourself cry and feel the loss. The emotions must be acknowledged to move through them. My heart goes out to you. I'm just now coming out of the shock, 6 weeks later, so I don't have too much advice as I'm a newbie. But like others have said, take it minute by minute and let yourself feel. I have found so much comfort coming on this site and talking to others in my shoes. We are all here for eachother. I'm so sorry for your loss. My husband also passed away from sepsis at the age of 44 on 2/24/16. We would've celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary on 4/5/16. We married right when I graduated high school. Needless to say, it has been quite an adjustment not having him here with me. He went into the hospital thinking that he had a simple cellulitis infection that would require IV antibiotics. This was on a Wednesday. By Thursday evening it had turned into sepsis. His body went into shock trying to fight the infection. Because of this his liver became enlarged, his kidneys failed, and his lungs lost half of their capacity due to his enlarged liver. On a Sunday he was put on a ventilator and he passed away the following Wednesday. So, in the span of one week my life was completely turned inside out. We have 3 children, 15, 13, and 4. For the first few months I think I was in shock. He was supposed to come home. He would have never, ever imagined that he would not have come home after a few days in the hospital. It has been a little over 7 months and I'm slowly coming out of my self-induced fog. I am able to function on a daily basis, but only because I have to. I have no other choice. I have three human beings that are depending on me to be there and take care of them. I'm sorry, I didn't mean to write a mini-novel. I just wanted to let you know that I completely identify with the shock that comes from a death from sepsis. Before his death, I'd never heard of it. You are in my prayers. Please know time does make it somewhat easier to function.

Hello Rachel, I am so sorry for your loss. My wife died o June 28 of this year from Sepsis also...The septic shock only took 15 hours and she was gone.....Just like you are, we were in shock. Take your time. Take things one minute, one hour one day at a time.......Above all else be kind to yourself.

I am sorry for your loss. Take as much time off of work to mourn as they will allow! I had to start back this week. Going back to work has been very difficult. I have had several panic attacks because it doesn't seem right. It all seems broken. Plus, I didn't realize how much just sitting alone in nature with God and my husband helped. I wish I still had mornings to do that. Talking to my husband a lot helps me. I feel him with me. My prayers are with you.

im uncertain about going back to work so soon, i took off next week as well as i have a good friend coming in on Sat to help me around the house...i've been spending my time at my in-laws and going back to my house to do certain things like clean out the fridge, wash sheets..been hard. Im a psychotherapist so i just don't know how much i can take of others problems at this time, or anytime soon...

I lost my wife/bestfriend almost 2 weeks ago. I'm feeling your loss.

I'm so very sorry for the loss of your husband. I lost mine almost six weeks ago, suddenly. We knew each other for almost six years and would have celebrated our 4th anniversary this coming January. Each day seems to bring with it different emotions...today I had to talk to one of his business associates as I'm going to be the administrator of his estate, which includes his business. That phone call seems to have really brought home the fact that Matthew is not here. Since that call, I've been screaming and crying into my pillow so my neighbors don't here me coming apart at the seams. I"m a social worker, by the way, so I know what you mean when you say that you're not up to hearing other people's problems. I work with older adults specifically, so I often have to see clients who are widows, making it even more difficult. We're on a long road - who knows how it will end up..

I want to prepare you because it was a shock to me when I first visited his grave at the cemetery. The whole will be filled with clumpy clay dirt. The flowers will be turned over and laid on top. It is hard to see.
