Ok guys, I took a big (for me) step today. I'm at 5 months and have been sheltering in. I have only left my house. 1 or 2 times a month since my Big Swede left this earth. I have had no disregard or tolerance for being out in the community.
Well, today my daughter and 4 yr old grandson took me out to lunch at the senior center. That was a great big risky step for me. I nearly backed out, but mindfully made the decision that it would be ok as long as they were there with .me.
It went well. We were seated at a table with 5 other seniors. (And not together.) They were welcoming and it was a pleasant social experience. In the back of my mind I kept thinking of Nanette and her experience with the Snooty Seniors. I also swallowed a smile when i pondered their reaction if I ran amok kicking over tables. Lol.
So, this afternoon I am considering making this a 2 times a week outing. The food was pretty good, conversation was easy and non-judgmental, and for $3.a meal, how could I go wrong. I am just going to need a pep squad to back me up. It's still really scary, but I think I can do this.
Can I check back here daily for encouragement and advise as I encounter the boogie men hiding waiting to fill us with panic every time we try something new?
Thank you all dear people for being my source of strength and encouragement. {{{Hugs}}} ~ Bailey ~

Anyway I went to dinner tonight at my daughter and son in laws. Got toread bedtime stories to the little guys and then come back to my empty house. Maybe that's why it's hard to leave my house . . .i always have to return to an empty house. Anyone else feel this way?

I volunteer at our local senior center. Amazing group of ladies and gentlemen and have met wonderful, supportive friends. There are many activities, classes and a travel club for seniors. You get out of the house and engaged in life. Check their newsletter to find any event you might want to attend. A friend I used to work with was just sitting at home after her husband passed, and I encouraged her to try her local senior center. She is now taking tai chi and playing bridge. Many hugs,
Love and Hugs,
