I agree with ya'll, a brag book. I find out what is going on with my family. But looks like I am invisible there as well. I posted about the Anniversary of my husbands death, and how sad I was. NOT ONE HUG, OR MESSAGE. So, I sent a Thank you out to everyone for their words and well wishes on that difficult date for me. And how one word can be the world to some people in pain. Still, nothing.... I AM INVISIBLE!!!!!

Like Jacuzzi63, I have a love/hate relationship with Facebook. Most of the time I don't read the nonsense, I simply check my messages and play a word game or complete a puzzle. I guess a lot of the junk just scrolls by in my newsfeed without my even seeing it . . . come to think of it, I kind of like it that way!

I started my facebook page after my wife passed hoping to reconnect with friends. Problem being it tries to connect me with my late wife's facebook page. Really freaks a person out. Long story short I sheldom got to my site anymore.

I agree with you icezam19. Facebook is a brag sheet. People always post all the happy stuff, or use it to repost and share all kinds of irrelevant stuff. It's not real. The worst is those that use it to discuss politics! You only see what people want you to see, and it's usually not what's really going on in their lives. However, I have stayed on because it's a way to connect with friends and family near and far. I love seeing photos of the families as they are growing...but yes, as a widow it can be a landmine on holidays like Valentines Day, /thanksgiving, and Christmas! Feels like everyone is just rubbing it in a little deeper!

I hate F' FakeBook! Never joined, tell my friends to NOT put out private info or pics of me through the dreaded cyber grapevine. My philosophy is "if you are in my life today, you are here for a reason . . you will know what's happening, if not, you are history, also for a reason." Just my take on things . . . I'm one of the less than 1% minority refusing to join. Choose your poison wisely.

Meanwhile, big round of hugs to all of our DS family that I do share with and are invited into my cyber world life.

I believe that Facebook can be a good place to be , it depends on who you allow as your friend and what privacy settings you use. I surround myself with positive people and do the same on FB. It is a very positive experience for me as I get to watch my little nephews grow. What comes across as bragging for some may be just a great positive experience for others. I also have no problems with deleting those who once added , prove to add a negative aspect to my life. I did this prior to my husband getting sick and continue to do so. I also keep my chat log off and send private message if I want to reach someone. Facebook as been and continues to be a positive experience in my life.

Im with you handq...,,just recently I didn't know that too much of my stuff was being posted for everyone...I thought that your profile is always public.. and tho it is...it is the ONLY thing people not on your friends list can see including comments on your photo from others if you have the correct settings for the picture you post...my daughter was able to go into mine and and correct all my crap from my very first postings ...now the only thing that anyone sees on mine is my backround photo and my little profile picture ...I like it like that!!

I hope that all of you know the in's and out's of non-privacy on facebook when you sign up. Yes, you can keep certain things "private" from other viewers; however, you cannot remain anonymous with FB itself . . . all of your information is stored and can be intercepted by hackers and of course our government. Again, be careful what you post and keep in mind that what you intend to be private just might become public. Do your research . . and use with caution. Hate to be a "hater" . . but then again, I don't dance to the beat of most of the blind sheeple out there. We should take responsibility for ALL that we are involved with, from medical care, legal representation and of course, anything we publicly post on the net. The same can be said with any web sites visited, including this one. Anything in the cyber world can be hacked. Common sense in what should or not be shared should always be used. The same can also be said in a verbal conversation with a friend, if you do not want it repeated, keep it to yourself. That's what life is .

I'm in there with the hate FB people. I lost what I thought was a good friend from DS because I had the nerve to disagree with her! Most of the stuff there is pure drivel.

I too hate FB. too much drivel and over sharing. Don't appreciate others posting photos of me or tagging me all over the Internet. I have a FB page, but seldom check it or post and if I do it's all stupid stuff from people who obviously have way too much time on their hands. Just my thoughts

I don't know if I hate Facebook because I never joined and never will. I guess it is good for some. I worry that too much of my business will be out there and "friends" can turn into friends I don't need.

I like facebook for keeping up with family and the friends from DS who moved from here to there but it does have drawbacks. I see people I know that are struggling and not happy post things implying their marriages and worlds are wonderful when they aren't. Unfortunately like every thing it has its bad and good things. I do not share my sadness but I also don't lie my life is what it is not perfect no use in sugar coating it.

I actually love posting pics of my kids and I doing normal stuff. I really want to feel normal like most people so I post my kids soccer, cheerleading, birthdays, family get togethers. I want people to view me as more than just someone who lost her husband. But, seeing happy couples is like taking a bullet.
