Grief Counseling = Useless?

Well, I tried grief counseling, yesterday after work.. I pretty much poured my heart out and told the lady all the things that I felt. I tried to touch on every topic I could think of.

After all of that, she basically told me that everything I felt was completely normal. She said she couldnt do anything to make things better. But if I needed to talk or vent, to make an appt.

I can do that for free on here and with friends/family... What has grief counseling done for you, if anything?

Writing is one of the greatest of therapy tools. Good for you that at least you have discovered this on your own (and through dcheramie's example). Perfect. You now have at least two positive outlets for your grief . . . sharing with your fam/friends here on DS and writing out your feelings. I'm very proud of you! I've seen much growth since when you first joined our group. Truly! You are making strides in the right direction. Keep up the momentum. Hugs, Dayna

My hubby used half of his full hour he had during chemo to talk with a Psychiatrist or Psychologist, I forgot which she was
but she was very nice and had a comforting voice but I feel it is overrated. I asked her if she ever lost a spouse and she said NO.
SO I will say that I will grieve any way I want, as long as I want or need and not one person is going to tell me I should be better by now or I might just smack them.
Though we all feel the same in alot of ways , deep down inside we are all DIFFERENT!! So grieving for you is different from me.
I will tell you I made up a wall in our living area of pictures of only my husband and myself. I did add his father because my husband lost his dad at only 12 yrs old due to an accident. So my husband had more suffering in his life WAY BEYOND the 2 cancers and I don't know why he had to suffer so greatly. All I know is I was with him and would take care of him all over again if I had the choice. Love goes deeper than happiness. It's love that makes you do things you never dreamed you could accomplish.
