I, too, wondered how good I would be as a dog owner, but the house was so lonely and empty after my husband passed away that I kept mulling over and over getting a little dog. I was not in love with the idea of walking a dog or taking one outside at night time because I had a fear of the dark. A week before Christmas, nine months after my husband's death, I got a little schnoodle. It has been the best thing that I have done since John's passing. She loves me as much as I love her and is so much company in this too-big-for one house. I am glad that you have decided to get a dog as a companion. I know you will find it rewarding in so many ways.

P. S. After my youngest brother passed away, his wife lost their dog. She has such poor health that I really didn't think it was a good idea when she was talking about getting another dog. How wrong I was. Her new companion has made her take better care of herself and has helped her so much emotionally.

I was adopted a week after my husbands death. He was badly abused, and 5 years old, a Papillion, they didn't think he could ever be around people again, and was going to put him down. Well, he is the best dog I have ever had!!!....Except the fact that when I started working, he will mess in front of the door when I am gone. I have had him 8 months now. He and I were made for each other, and he loves people, even kids. But I have to retrain him if I plan on continuing to work, Gives me a reason to come home, and someone to keep me company, and he doesn't talk back!!!!

I have told everyone, if something happens to me, to take care of him.

I know my cat has really helped me. I will come home and she greets me at the door. She is right there with me with just about anything I do. She is a lap cat so she is so much company!!! Your dog will be a lot of company for you also.

My friend has agreed to be my emergency contact for my dog and bird in case something happens to me. I feel so much better. Now all I need to do is get her housebroken..
