Widows & Widowers Support Group
This community is dedicated to those who have lost a husband, wife, or partner. Anything is open for discussion here, with the hope that we can focus on grief, bereavement, life after loss, and continuing on after a great loss.
I know I am sorry to do this, but this is the only way I could make my voice heard about this site.
I tried to send an email through the "contact us" link, and here's what I said:
Hello,
I have been a DS user since my husband passed away in March of 2008. I have spent much of the time writing journal entries as it has become rather therapeutic and freeing for me to be all of the sides of myself. However, since the change, I find it has been quite a challenge to navigate. For example, as a person who uses JAWS (Job Access With Speech) from Freedom Scientific (as most persons who are blind do), where the old site had it clearly labeled for logging in, I have to click on something I do not necessarily want to read in order for a log in screen to populate. I am not sure how it is in the US, but I know that here in Canada, sites need to be accessible to assistive technology users as per the Canadian disability act. Did the designers of this site take into consideration persons who use assistive technology? I highly doubt it because I find it very confusing and not easily navigatable.. Is there anything in the works to come with perhaps a scaled back site or "basic view" (ala gmail) or something to click on for screen reader users (ala googgle)?
Also, last week, when I was having password issues, I did email for assistance, but nobody has gotten back to me to this day...
When I tried to submit my email (several times), it says "request type cannot be blank", but there's nowhere for me to choose a request type, so of course, even though I had keyed in my email and the subject, it was not sent! So hopefully someone who actually gives a crap will read this. Sorry again for venting again...
