I am 47 and Mike was 50 when he died Feb.23rd of this year.He has not been gone two months yet and I feel that I have been without him for years! I miss him so..

I tried to find the actual 1985 statistics and of course the census doesn't make it that easy to find. Also I theres median and average.

There were some financial sites that popped up, but majority referenced the 1985 census. As I said it seemed rather young to me, but who knows. All I know is that anything under 100 is too young if I'm still here and he's gone.

I was 53 and he was 81. I have aged more since he passed away. My hair is really getting gray!!!

I was 51 and hubby was 54 when he died. Much too young, darn it.

That's me. Just about average. I am 56 and my husband was 58. This seems so young. That is very sad that this is the average age.

I was widowed twice within a year and six months..
First husband Joe, had always said that he was going to die at 55 he died of cancer, exactly one week before his 56 birthday.
My dear husband Paul died of a massive heart attack at 63.
I am 57.

I lost Dewey when I was 65 and he was 67. He always said he lived longer than he should have. He knew he had health problems but neglected to take care of them. Then I lost Bobby at 66 and he was 70.......he too knew he had major health problems and waited too late. That's still too young for them to go..........Jenny

I was 50 when I lost Brian and he was 61. Too young for both of us :(

I turned 56 4 days after Ted passed on 5/13/09. He would have turned 70 12 days after that. Needless to say, the month of May will never be the same....
