Hi, firstly, Im 19 and I have been pulling my hair on my head for a few years and recently I have just shaved my head from the insanity I was feeling. It felt like a big step fpr me and wasn't pulling. But when my hair was growing and after a few weeks as soon as I could I started again. I saw a video after searching how to grow hair fast of a young lady close to my age who has trich and was explaining when she shaved her head the hair growth made her head very ichy which she had already knew from experiencing this with long hair too but for some reason started pulling again. I can relate to this, and I feel like ill never be able to grow it out again.
Growing up I was considered to be a beautiful child. I had always had long light hair (not exactly blonde but not brown). Honestly I have moved into isolation and have to lie to make sure no one sees me because I feel like I look ugly and too unattractive for others to see me. I dont know why I ruined something that I loved about myself and I cannot seem to stop. Only my parents and sister know I have trich and they always are blunt when talking anout it and don't understand. I can understand why they dont get it but it makes me feel I have to pretend like im always doing better when in reality im not. I was hoping on writing this here in hope that I can find a friend to talk to who has these issues and feelings. I have never tried to honestly this is a big step for me.

You've taken the important first step in writing out your situation.
Here's the thing. It's not about anyone else understanding, they have only their experience to work with. It's about you understanding that you will do for your well-being.
You are responsible for what you say, do, react, and respond. You are NOT responsible for what others say and do and react and respond.
Reaching out to find people who understand in the DS community is a positive step in helping yourself.
Shaving your head and starting fresh, and dealing with the itching sensation, are all part of the healing process.
Keep your hands focused on healing and your thoughts focused on the healing. Write in a private journal every day, expressing your feelings, emotions, and thoughts.
When speaking with your family who have shown you their view and are helping in their experience, change how you respond. Be positive with them.
Best wishes as you find your better balance.
Keep your hands busy!
@Mid has made some valid points and it's a good healing process for you (as a matter of fact I going to follow that example as well)
