I go for my first appointment with a TMJ specialist (although I have known for years I have it) and I am going to ask. My ears itch all the time. The only thing that helps is to put a few drops of mineral oil in each ear before I go to bed. I do this about 3 times a week.

no your not alone I always have itchy ringing ears too.

Yes, I have it too. Based on research I've done and what my specialist told me it is a very common symptom of TMJ.

I just wanted to let you know that the itchy ear thing is probably the worse thing for me having TMJ . I am in constant stock of ear drops. I know what you are going through and it stinks!!!

I'm not officially dianosed with TMJ yet, but YES I have had itchy ears -- horribly itchy. It felt like there was a spider or other bug in my ear unfolding it's legs or wings. Did anyone have that feeling? I did tell my GP doctor and he looked inside them, so I know there is no buggies. Eww! Let me know, this is icky! ~Charlotte

I am having a new symptom regarding my ears.- I thought this might be the place to ask. Now my left ear is doing something really weird- I can actually hear a hearbeat like sound?? Anyone else? I am hoping to get in with my oral surgeon this week to see what the heck is going on. I don't like it, I think I feel a tad dizzy with it too. I had all Ear Nose and Throat stuff ruled out- so I know there is nothing wrong with my ear. I think its all being caused from my TMJ- any thought?

YES!! My ear itches and it feels like it is asleep all the time!! It is so bothersome! You are not alone!

WOW, I thought I was the only one too. it drives me crazy. Like someone else said, it feels like there are little bugs in my ears or something. I think I posted something about it in the ear problems group. I wasnt sure if it was from TMJ. I went to a ENT doc and he gave me some greasy ear drops, but the itchy feeling kept coming back. I bought some ear drops at the drugstore... they kinda help but not enough. He also recommended calamine lotion on a q-tip... so I'm gonna give that a try. If someone has a good remedy, please let us know!!!

ok so I've asked several different doctors and none of them really knew what to tell me... they all basically told me to keep doing what I'm doing... sigh...

OH MY GOSH! Hearing all of this is so wonderful! As I write this, my ears are driving me nuts. I am about to go in the bathroom and go crazy with the Q-tips! This is so weird! Why is this a symptom of TMJ???

My ears are affected terribly from my TMJ. My left ear feels stuffed and is extremeley uncomfortable. Does anyone else have this symptom?

I also have the itchy ear thing in my right ear. About ten years ago a doctor friend of mine got a new laser hair removal machine, and zapped the few hairs I had growing in both ears. After that my right are started itching like crazy, and has never stopped. I have tried the clear form of Calamine anti-itch lotion, and hydrocortisone 1% and 2% with some success. I am considering acupuncture; I will post again after the acupuncture.

My ears have been the biggest victims of my tmj.
About a year ago, I developed dabilitating tinnitus and hyperacusis in both of my ears (left ear specifically). I blame my tmj and bruxism.
My ears ring (friggin' torture) constantly and are almost always feeling itchy, achy and stuffed up.
From what I was told, the nerve bundles that service our auditory senses are often affected by problems with the jaw as they run in extremely close proximity to the mandibular hinges.
Ear problems with tmj are not uncommom, but the acute problems that I suffer with my hearing are rather rare.
