I've always wanted to be a nurse, a neonatal nurse or midwife would be my ideal occupation. I ended up being a teacher. I teach 5 year olds in their first year of school. I do love it, although it can be hard work at times.

I work at a university as an Instructional Designer (I design educational multimedia, but I don't do the programming side of things). I used to be a teacher. I also always wanted to be a nurse - neonatal! But, when it came time to choose uni courses, my dad didn't want me to study nursing... so here I am...
What would I rather be doing? Well, I'm really disillusioned with my job which I've been doing for a long time now, and a nice change of pace would actually be to work in a garden store - you know, plants and garden stuff.... aaahhhh....

I am a stay at home mum, i have a 5yr old and a 4.5 month old. When my youngest is old enough to go to daycare i will probably do a TAFE course, gain some skills and make my way back into the work force. Id like to be an advocat for kids with dissablities, god knows they need them.

I went through wanting to be different things at different stages of my life. As a small child I told everyone I wanted to be a baby doctor. Then I wanted to be a journalist. I actually was editor of my HS newspaper and did work experience as a journalist for a local paper. By the end of year 12 I wanted to be a HS music teacher...but my musicianship was not advanced enough to get in. I was going to start my B.Ed and then reapply but I started to like Primary teaching. I still love teaching kids 17 years later - but the job is far more political than i would like. I just love to teach.

I think if I had the courage I would be a writer. I would love to write children's picture books. I have already written a couple but I have never sent them to a publisher. Lots of people tell me too but i have just not built up the courage to handle rejections.

I'm a Faux Finish Artist, some might say Decorative Painter. I do homes and commercial properties with high end plaster (mostly) finishes throughout the US and overseas.

I didn't pursue this career, it chose me as a teenager (back in the day, like way back)...I get paid to do a job I love...interesting, exciting at times...met some incredible people doing this...who da thunk!

Well, I started out as a bank clerk, it was either that or training as a secretary, and I hated typing. I've done a variety of jobs since having the kids to allow me to stay at home including, child care, pizza delivery, waitressing, jewellry making, integration aide, business partner, and ended up right back at the start with the other choice, typing half the day as an administrator. I still don't like typing, but I do love the creative side of things, web design, creative formatting, etc. I have half set up an online business as a virtual assistant, but at the moment am operations manager at the local nursing home.
My dream..... was to run a day spa. I loved massage and was damn good at it too until I hurt my arm.

i am a cleaner, cook, seamstress, Gardner, counsellor, judge, taxi driver, accountant, washing lady, the best person in the world to give cuddles, the best listener in the world, i also have the ability to zone out and ignore fighting children, have you guessed it yet. I have the best job in the world i am a mum to 4 beautiful children a boy 5 and three girls 7, 10, 12 and its all i have always wanted to do i cant remember wanting to do anything else except be a mother and a wife i like to call myself a domestic goddess

I'm a gardener with one of the councils, after 16yrs I've had enough of it.
I've done more training and courses than you can poke a stick at. I drive a truck and still get a few strange stares, use a frontend loader, skid steer (bob-cat) and most other forms of equipment.
I must admit I do like being outdoors.
And to answer a question that pop into most people's minds, no I don't lean on a shovel all day.

I started off life with the intention of being a music teacher. I went to uni and studied for 1.5 years before depression got such a grip on me I couldn't get out of bed anymore. That depression stage lasted 10 months and ultimately I pulled out of my course.

Now I work in childcare as an Assistant Co-ordinator. I work with 5-12 year olds and love each day of it. Children are very special to me. I look forward to the day when I can be a mum.

In my 'younger days' I taught Women's Self Defence classes and Kung Fu. I decided I needed to do a mid-life career change, to gain financial stability, and trained as a chef. Sadly after only 5 years in the industry the circulation in my legs was completely shot and I had developed a neuropathic pain syndrome in one of them. I now survive on Disability Pension... which kind of sucks really. However, I am blessed to have a wonderful job to do (though unpaid) that makes a real difference in the lives of seriously ill children and helps me to feel I still have a purpose and a value. That is worth more to me at this point than any amount of money could bring me.

After school I managed an Antiques Department at a Department store for 3. Was a chippy (Carpenter, Domestic Construction) for 10. Army (Signals Corps) for 3. Airforce (Senior Avionics Technician, Fighters) for 11. Retired due to poor health. Have had CFS for 4 years but would be back at work in the blink of an eye if I could. CFS sucks big time. Am slowly getting better.

well...i studied visual arts and photography...worked first as a photographer but i hated it...did a bit more study and became a graphic designer....have worked as a graphic designer for the last 3 yrs or so...and again i dont like it!....while all this study etc was going on ive also worked in galleries and arts orgs, currently trying to get more work in that area...im kinda unemployed atm, but working as a freelance designer as well.

I worked as a high school teacher, and when I achieved all my goals I changed careers. I am now a nurse working in a stroke/neurology unit which I love.

i work for a local council within the parks and gardens i drive a truck,im also the one they call if they need a tree feld ,but before that i was a prison officer within the court system

Im a Building Surveyor/Building Certifier, I manage two departments for the Local Authority.
We are the guys who approve and inspect buildings and answer all of those building related compliants that so many people seem to have (usually about their neighbours).
Mine is a pretty anonymous profession but you would be surprised to find how much impact we have on the health, safety and amentity of your everyday lives.
I would rather be a wealthy surf bum who spends his days crusing around looking for waves or sailing a 45ft yacht. Unfortunately neither is going to happen.
