And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.
Corin 4. Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted by God.
Corin. 5. For as the sufferings of Christ abound in us, so our consolation also aboundeth by Christ.
Thank you for this post David. Does this count as 3?!
Luke 19:38 (NIV)
Blessed is the king who comes in the name of the Lord !
Peace in heaven and glory in the highest !
Oh God, you are my God, earnestly I seek you; my soul thirsts for you, my body longs for you, in a day and weary land where there is no water.
I have seen you in the sanctuary and beheld your power and your glory. Because your love is better than life, my lips will glorify you. I will praise you as long as I live, and in your name I will lift up my hands. My soul will be satisfied as with the richest of foods; with singing lips my mouth will praise you.
On my bed I remember you; I think of you through the watches of the night. Because you are my help, I sing in the shadow of your wings. My soul clings to you; your right hand upholds me.
The book of Psalm is really all music that was written to praise God. God's music is also a "singing prayer" to God. I feel this book really tells the story of how we should pray to God be it through music or private prayer always to know that He can restore us, renew us through prayer.
Think of him not only a bedtime but also in the morning giving Him thanks for all He has blessed us with.
As long as we earnestly seek Him, thirst for Him, and long for Him God knows we are on dry land (or in bad places at times in life) and will bring us water (our needs) as long as we remember Him, pray to Him, and wait for His answer to us.
God Bless
7-12 If you reason with an arrogant cynic, you'll get slapped in the face;
confront bad behavior and get a kick in the shins.
So don't waste your time on a scoffer;
all you'll get for your pains is abuse.
But if you correct those who care about life,
that's different—they'll love you for it!
Save your breath for the wise—they'll be wiser for it;
tell good people what you know—they'll profit from it.
Skilled living gets its start in the Fear-of-God,
insight into life from knowing a Holy God.
It's through me, Lady Wisdom, that your life deepens,
and the years of your life ripen.
Live wisely and wisdom will permeate your life;
mock life and life will mock you.
For we know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body ruled by sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin, because anyone who has died has been set free from sin.
A Psalm of David.
1 Bless the LORD, O my soul;
And all that is within me, bless His holy name!
2 Bless the LORD, O my soul,
And forget not all His benefits:
3 Who forgives all your iniquities,
Who heals all your diseases,
4 Who redeems your life from destruction,
Who crowns you with lovingkindness and tender mercies,
5 Who satisfies your mouth with good things,
So that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.
This, then, is how you should pray:
Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come,
your will be done
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from the evil one.
I became a servant of this gospel by the gift of God’s grace given me through the working of his power.
But he was pierced for our transgressions,
he was crushed for our iniquities;
the punishment that brought us peace was upon him,
and by his wounds we are healed.
Blessed is the man whose strength is in You, whose heart is set on pilgrimage
I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.
