It is the glory of God to conceal a matter, But the glory of kings is to search out a matter.
Sing praises to God, sing praises;
sing praises to our King, sing praises.
(17) Do not rejoice when your enemy falls,
and when he stumbles do not let your heart rejoice,
(18) lest the LORD see it, and be displeased,
and turn his wrath away from him.
I think this is appropriate tonight as I see so many Christians rejoicing in the death of Osama bin Laden.
I can understand that - I really can, and I felt that way when I first heard the news but then I stopped and thought about and decided it was wrong of me to think that way.
He was an evil man who caused a lot of death, pain and heartache around the world and we can hope and pray that this will now start to come to an end. But as one of my Christian friends said we really need to pray for his soul and for those of his followers that they might find a better way in life away from the killing that they have started to perpetrate around this world.
If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone. Do not take revenge, my friends, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written: “It is mine to avenge; I will repay,” says the Lord.
Deuteronomy 32:35
It is mine to avenge; I will repay.
In due time their foot will slip;
their day of disaster is near
and their doom rushes upon them.”
I agree with praying for our enemies.
This man was a trained killer, whose main objective was to kill us. We have military personnel who are assigned a task. I have Cristian friends who are in Afghanistan and have been in Iraq. We live in a wicked world.
The Old Testament in several different books shows that those who did not follow the Law were done away with. In 1Kings a couple of family lines were wiped out because of their refusal to follow God's Laws.
I have been forgiven as a Christian, and I love and pray for my neighbor. I also pray for the families that had loved ones jumping out of windows to a fiery death.
In this case nearly a decade.
At times we are impatient about that and try to pre-empt Him.
Something we need to try and refrain from doing.
He will also use humans, either individuals or nations, to exact that revenge at times, as He did many times in the OT.
And as he did this time.
and let the peace of God rule in your hearts,to the which also you are called in one body; and be ye thankful.
David thank you.
He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High
will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.
I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress,
my God, in whom I trust.”
4Love is patient, love is kind and is not jealous; love does not brag and is not arrogant, 5does not act unbecomingly; it does not seek its own, is not provoked, does not take into account a wrong suffered, 6does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth; 7bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
8Love never fails; but if there are gifts of prophecy, they will be done away; if there are tongues, they will cease; if there is knowledge, it will be done away. 9For we know in part and we prophesy in part; 10but when the perfect comes, the partial will be done away. 11When I was a child, I used to speak like a child, think like a child, reason like a child; when I became a man, I did away with childish things. 12For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face; now I know in part, but then I will know fully just as I also have been fully known. 13But now faith, hope, love, abide these three; but the greatest of these is love
St Paul's Letter to the Corinthians - Chapter 13
For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the LORD: I will put My laws in their mind and write them on their hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people.
If some of ya'll are reading these, I invite you to help someone else and not even know it. Share a verse.
This may be a repeat, but Paul, so powerful.
1Corinthians 11:1
Follow my example, as I follow the example of Christ.
For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
In your majesty ride forth victoriously
in behalf of truth, humility and righteousness;
let your right hand display awesome deeds.
And Moses said to the people, "Do not be afraid. Stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD, which He will accomplish for you today."
