Short Stature Support Group
Shortness is a vague term without a precise definition and with significant relativity to context. Because of the lack of preciseness, there is often disagreement about the degree of shortness that should be called short.
Being sixteen, and facing the reality that at 5'4-5'5 and not being a late bloomer (my father is 5'6 1/2) I will eventually have to accept the fact that this isn't going to change. I've always had problems accepting myself, and the thing most people don't seem to get (because, quite frankly, they're not in your shoes) is that it takes an emotional toll on a person to be outside what society considers attractive or healthy. To actually know, instead of it being an insecurity, that a woman will have to make the decision to have children with you and factor in your genetics, is quite unnerving. Then the element people who aren't "seeing things from your perspective" comes into play, such as the realization that your son will have to go through the hardships you did.
Another problem with male short stature is that it's often seen as "ugly" or "humorous". Yet, when a woman is below 5'3", it's seen as attractive, because a man feels a natural need to feel dominating, and a shorter, well proportioned woman is often-times the more attractive, especially if the man happens to be taller.
So, even though women with familial short stature or HGH deficiencies usually have some of the same problems with it that men do, on a personal level, they usually don't have to put up with the same loss of respect (in the workplace and beyond) and relationship issues.

The best advice I ever heard was to /act/ like you're fine with it, not just think it. It's ok to laugh at yourself once in a while, and apparently, once people see that you're ok with it, they will be too. That advice came from a 4'10 politician, and it seemed to work for him.
Another person I'd like to mention is Willie Nile. He's a great inspiration in my writing (if you haven't heard about him, look him up) and I had the pleasure of meeting the man once not too long ago. He was a great performer, had a lot of energy and charisma for someone his age, and made a few jabs at his physical self, while keeping himself and the entire place laughing. At the end of the show I shook his hand, and I was surprised to see that he was about 2 1/2 inches shorter than I was, yet he's completely happy with himself.

I was always 5'-5-1/2" tall untill recently - now I have shrunk an inch due to osteopenia.
And everyone else always thought I was short.
But I always thought my feet reched the floor - just the same as anyone else's.
Of course I do see your point of view.
But , I gotta tell you - after the first few minutes of meeting a person - it really does not matter what their height is - if they are nice and smart and desirable - they are okay - and if they are not then they are unacceptable.
So - who knows plenty of tall dummys (as that onlt tv show about a trash man always said)? I do...!!!!
Better to strive for smarts than talls. Cannot pay the bills without smarts.

I thought someone should have told you that males rarely reach their full height by age 16. Also some women, lots of us actually, prefer shorter men. I've been married twice, both times to men shorter than me and neither of them had a problem with women. My 1st husband even continued to not have a problem getting women after we were married.

lso, the average woman in the usa is 5'4" around the world its 5'4" or 5'2" or 5'3" etc, but the majoirty of women in the world are not 6 foot tall! also, the average man is 5'9" or 5'7" in America.There will always be someone who is taller than you! and there will always be someone who you are taller than!
So if a 5'10" idiot oaf wants to talk trash to you, he is stupid! and he is less of a human! and you know what? there will always be someone taller than him! Unless youre as tall as the sky there will always be someone taller than you! be happy yorue alive! embrace yourself because youre a handsome man! do not listen to negative people who are feeling bad about themselves and want to make otthers feel the hurt they are going through! walk with your ehad up high!
