Short Stature Support Group
Shortness is a vague term without a precise definition and with significant relativity to context. Because of the lack of preciseness, there is often disagreement about the degree of shortness that should be called short.
I'll start, and you can tell us your height if you like, there's no need to be shy or uncomfortable because this is the one place you can feel safe being honest. We're a support group, right?
I'm a man of 5' 5", and at one time I wore special shoes with height increasing insoles that made me appear to be 5' 7" tall. I don't wear those types of shoe any longer because they're expensive and the quality was not as good as the shoes I can buy at my local shoe store.
I still remember the old television show in which deputy Barney Fife hung himself in his closet in order to stretch out his body to pass the height requirements for being a deputy sheriff - I think it was on the 'Andy Griffin Show'. Ever wondered if you could somehow stretch yourself like that to gain an inch or two in height?

u kno, i stopped measuring my hight AGES AGO, since i was 13 or somethin... i just felt its useless worryin too much about somethin i cant change... plus there are many short men and women at college, so if they can live... i can live too!

At my absolute shortest I've ever been measured at, I'm 5 foot, 5 inches, without my shoes, and that was a particular doctor's office. When I decide to try it myself, without shoes on of course, I range from about 5 foot, 6 inches, to 5 foot 8 inches. I've been checked by two other doctor offices and I was put at 5 foot, 7 inches for both, so I generally consider myself to be that without my shoes on, adding an inch with my shoes on.
I'm in no way the shortest male that I know of, but my height has always bothered me, even as a child since it seemed I was always a shrimp compared to my peers. Looking at myself now, when most males I have to look up to see their eyes, and even some females, I don't generally feel too confident about my own height. Although as a child, I remember literally crying about how short I was, I've basically accepted it now, though it does take a toll on my non-existent self esteem.
