When I was eight and my sister was eighteen, I remember having to keep fending off sexual advances from her. She was very interested in any sexual feelings I might be having, and she would try to touch me. I would push her away and walk away from her when she did this.
Is this sexual abuse? I read recently that legally and in its effects on the child, it is. I never thought of it as anything unusual until I started trying to find out why I have had so many relationship problems in my life.
I have a gut feeling that she abused me sexually when I was very young, but I have no clear memories of that. My mother drank a lot and my sister raised me like she was my mother.
This is very difficult for me to write about. It all happened a long time ago, but maybe it's still relevant for me. I often experience feelings of revulsion about sexuality and when they happen I have memories of my sister that pop up in my mind.

I was sexually assaulted as a kid. I find it hard to accept that another person's actions caused me so much harm. He made bad choices and now I am paying the price. Stupid PTSD!
sorry, i didnt really answer your question... in my opinion it was unwanted sexual advances so yes its sexual abuse... sorry to tell you...
And I also remember that it was not something unusual, that I was in the habit of pushing her away when she got like that. If I was eight, this would have been in 1949.
Some things you would like to forget...and you can't...even after all those years.
Under current law as I understand it, making advances like that is considered sexual abuse...especially if it was a regular thing. This is something I'm trying to accept and understand about myself. I'm thinking it could explain a lot about all the relationships that didn't work out in my life. What I'm reading lately says that it can, but it's difficult for me to accept that.
I'm just trying to understand why I've always had this reputation for being "messed up" or "weird". I was abused in other ways that were non-sexual too...both at home and in school by bullies. I guess I'm just trying to find some peace of mind.
Thanks for the replies, I do appreciate it.
I've read this in articles online, but maybe I just needed to hear it from someone who spells it out directly like that. Part of me wants to say it was no big deal, like I always have looked at it. But I guess that's wrong, it was a big deal for a little kid.
I still have a difficult time identifying myself as someone who was sexually abused because in my mind "nothing happened". The fact that I still remember it so vividly after so many years tells a different story than "nothing happened", I suppose.
