I first off want to say how relieved I am to find this group. I am beside myself and have no one to turn to because of the nature of my dilemma. It has been a few days but I am having a hard time functioning. I wake up, hoping this has all been one bad dream....but it is real life.
My world was turned upside down when I left to run errands. I am a mother of 17, 13 and 4 year old boys. The 17 year old was babysitting for me and shortly after I returned home he left to go to a friends house. That night as I was loading the dishwasher with my middle son, he explained he heard the 4 year old screaming upstairs earlier when I was gone and had discovered my 17 year old molesting the 4 year old. I rushed my 4 year old to the hospital where they had to do all the medical testing. My 17 year old was arrested and is currently in custody. He confessed to have molested him on three separate occasions.
My heart is just broke. My youngest son has special needs and has delayed speech. I just can't understand how my oldest could do something so horrible. I have to be an advocate for my two younger boys but also have to be present at all the hearings during my older son's trial. I even received a letter I will be responsible for paying the attorney fees for his court appointed defender. On top of all this I am having serious medical issues and have a necessary major surgery upcoming. I just feel so overwhelmed. I also have a huge extended family that keeps inquiring on what is going on and I just don't want everyone in the world to know. I don't want my youngest to be treated differently for the rest of his life. We will start therapy next week, but I'm going crazy right now
Please help with any advice.

I was sexually assaulted as a kid. I find it hard to accept that another person's actions caused me so much harm. He made bad choices and now I am paying the price. Stupid PTSD!

I want to commend you for the biggest and one very important thing that a lot of us understand way to much...
You believed your son when he opened up to you.
Most of us know only the 'brushing under the rug, and trying to forget about it...
And what it sounds like the things you're doing, ate exactly what you are suppose to. be doing!
Take it one day or one minute at a time.. You are a wonderful mom, very proud of ALL your kids!!
You're never alone, so please, ask questions...
