Who took you by the hand and signed you up for this website? Who opens your book to study? Who has decided that you've "...done nothing?"
What do you expect or think you should have done by now--after 19 years on earth--12+ of those years just spent growing up! And, just so you know, you are still not through "growing up" since the brain is not fully matured.
According to the National Institute of Mental Health "...the part of the brain responsible for controlling impulses and planning ahead--the hallmarks of adult behavior--are among the last to mature." (They typically mature in the 20s).
The majority of the people in the world don't start contributing to society until they are much older. Why are you carrying such unrealistic expectations of yourself???
You say that you "...just kind of sit around for the ride, waiting..." And I say, do something; nothing is holding you back except you.
If you're not seeing a therapist consider it, most collages have counseling centers that are affordable.
Go do something safe right now.

See, right now you're supposed to be learning how to do meaningful work.
So yeah, you haven't been meaningful yet, you're in *preparation* to be meaningful.
If you need to feel needed, I agree with the last 2 posters. Do volunteer work.
But also, determine that you're going to find a way to use your talents (whatever they are) to help other people.
