Scoliosis Support Group
Scoliosis affects all ages. Unlike the naturally occurring curves in the spine, scoliosis causes the spine to curve abnormally to the left or right.
This is my first time being here so I'm not sure how best to describe all that I have going on but I'm going to try. I just turned 50 a couple of months ago but have been having severe lower back pain for a solid hard 8 years. I was told after a wreck I had that led to surgery when I was in my 20s. But I didn't realize how it could affect me one day. The physical therapists mentioned it to me rather casually by asking had anyone ever told me. I said no and we proceeded to work on the first of four total surgeries on my spine. The first and second surgery was cervical and the third surgery was about two and a half years ago on the L5-S1 and the curvature was I think 40%. And with nonstop treatment and doctor appointments for years before and since, I just found out a few months ago that the curvature has progressed about 20% in those two and a half years. I can't stand more than a couple of minutes without excruciating pain. I literally can't tolerate doing much of anything. I no longer can do grocery shopping and cooking supper is extreme pain and has decreased most of my lifestyle. Can ANYONE PLEASE TELL ME HOW TO EXIST? Does anyone have any suggestions on what I can do from this point on? Any thoughts or personal experiences would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

This is why I asked AI today, why coworkers, family and others are in my face loud trying to get a rise out of me. I love the AI response: People often compete with quiet people because they misread your silence as weakness, a hidden threat,...

I watched a great video on YouTube this morning. I think the speaker's name is Tim Fletcher. It was about feeling unheard as a child. I distinctly remember sitting at the kitchen table with my family, everyone talking, no one listening. I just kept quiet and ate. I have had a feeling of being unheard for some parts of my life, with some people. I have had some fabulous friends over...
