Sciatica Support Group

Sciatica is a term meaning pain that originates from compression of the sciatic nerve, the longest and largest nerve in the body. If the sciatic nerve is pinched or compressed (perhaps by a bulging disc in the low back) a patient may experience leg pain--the classic symptom of sciatica.

Sciatica Switched Legs

My sciatica switched legs... completely. My right leg no longer hurts at all, but my left leg is killing me. Any idea for why this would happen? I haven't had any MRIs to determine why I have sciatica, just as an FYI.

This thread was from a while back but it caught my attention because it mentioned the sciatic pain switching legs. I am having that same exact thing happening to me and I can't find answers Online. I did go to the doctor today and she said that there can be other causes for sciatica. I have Fibromyalgia and she said that could actually cause this sciatic pain that I am having. She said that sciatica doesn't typically switch legs? I'm not sure that what she said is completely accurate, but I am finding that a day or two my left side to my foot will be hurting so bad and then I lay on the opposite side and within a day or two i am having the same type of pain but in the other leg! I am going for an MRI but has anyone heard this about Fibromyalgia doing this? I sure haven't until today.

Hi

I just joined the group looking for advice Few day ago I undewent a lumbar spinal fusion L5-S1. I had sciatica on my let leg. After the operation, my left leg is just fine, but a major pain developed along the right leg. In fact the pain goes from the buttock all the way to my ankle. Is is much stronger the one ever on the left side. Can someone help to e,plain the switch and what are my next steps. It has been 5 days after the.operatio. Kind Regards, Mark

    My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper?
