That link is broken but you can find the hotel easily
Seriously, if the train I want to take still has sleeping accommodations available, I'll book my tickets. I've done overnight in coach seats...I don't want to arrive all sore and cranky and in desperate need of chiropractic adjustments and pain meds. The good/bad news about the train trip is that my travel dates are extremely limited. (Note to our European friends: our train system is abysmal. If I lived in Europe, I'd probably use public transportation all the time. That's impossible here.) Anyway, all that is to say that in order not to miss any of the retreat, I'd have to arrive in OKC late Tuesday night. So if anyone is around Wednesday and has recovered enough from jet lag to emerge sleepily from their beds, I'd love to get together!
Can someone send me the hotel info?
I figure I'd probably fly like I did last year. Our local itty-bitty airport should be fine. I'm pretty sure OKC will be fine. Both don't even have body scanners and aren't being all crazy with the pat-downs. But the scary part for me will be the Phoenix airport. Every time I've flown through there, I've had to go through security again -- it's the way the airport is laid out. I guess I'm just lucky in that I always arrive at a terminal that is as far away as possible from where I'm departing, and I have to walk through an unsecured part of the airport to get there.
Last year I got lost (not an uncommon experience for me) was given crazy and contradictory directions, and pretty much flew into a panic. Just dreading some sort of nightmarish security ordeal on top of all that would be too much; an actual pat-down would probably send me over the edge. (Suggestion for pre-retreat icebreaker activity: road trip to Arizona in order to bust me out of the loonie bin. It will be such a bonding experience!)
So...I hate to be a whiny crybaby but there you have it. Is anyone taking a flight out of Phoenix who is willing to meet up with me at the airport, feed me Xanax, and help get me on the plane without major incident?
I'd love to help with xanax but my connect flight is atlanta. I'm travelling the wednesday if that flight remains available until january *fingers crossed*
