In this thread, I will offer mp3's of music for thoughtful days. This is my personal thread, but consider the music to be my offering to each of you. Many songs will have themes, or journal messages, and I'm interested in your responses to them.

Oh Tull...yes...Aqualung......Thick as a Brick....love it.

POCO did an album back there in the 80s at some point...called The Blue and The Grey. It was weird but I liked it...Civil War songs. I don't remember anything except at the time, I liked it.

BUT BEST ALAN PARSONS PROJECT EVER.......EVE

It was written originally as a tribute to women living in a male dominated world. Very powerful concept for 1979.

The song titles sound a bit odd...but it's all resolved in the lyrics.
The most popular song from that album was Damned If I Do

BUT THE BEST SONGS WERE NOT RELEASED AS SINGLES, like

I have to admit, a couple of the songs don't really pay tribute as much as label a particular type of woman. So, I won't list them here, they aren't empowering, or songs for hawks. But, overall, Alan Parsons was music for the intellectual mind. He twists pharases and makes you think.

My other passion, Pink Floyd. Dark Side of the Moon, and most of
The Wall. I just like it.

Art Garfunkel did an album after the breakup called Watermark. All really insightful songs.

Try out NEWSBOYS an aussie contemporary Christian group. Their lyrics matched with great music make their work very pleasant.

Also, BLUE OCTOBER a song called X Amount of Words...talking about therapy...well kindof. :0)

This one is called "Hate Me"
This one is difficult to lsten to if you are a mother. Well, if you are a mother who has had a child who has had dificulties while growing up. My son gave me this album. It was, he said because he knew it sounds like a group I like. I heard this song and wondered if he had another motive. It opened up an opportunity for a long needed discusion between he and I. I had the chance to tell him that no matter what was in our past, hate was never a thing I could do. I also pointed out the selfishness of a person who would rather have hatred as his legacy than to mend his ways. We had a great talk, and, although this was an off way to start it, it ended up good.

This song is just too cool....talk about lyrical twists. I love this, but turn up the bass, it's way better off the CD

Hey ladies & gents, How old are we here? I get the feeling we're all totally timeless what with the old and the new and everything in between music! This is so great for me to find so many with such varied taste in music!!! Very empowering. Something I'm off to write of in my journal because I HAVE A NEW MEMORY!!!! and I'm crying/laughing/FREE!

Well, for several more days...I'm 50, but, I don't feel any older than I did when I was 20. I really enjoy all the same things, even the same music. I have broadened those horizons, but I love all the old stuff I used to. Did you like Newsboys and Blue October?

Lately I've been listening to a TON of blues rock, mostly by the Native American band "Indigenous." It has just that perfect sweet mix of sadness ("blues") and summer fun-time stomp that makes me feel good.

Depeche Mode has been "speaking" to me a lot, lately as well. And we (me, Victoria, Tonya) rocked out to Beth Hart (live) half the way back from the mountains to my house on Saturday.
