Renal cell carcinoma, also known by a gurnistical tumor, is the most common form of kidney cancer arising from the renal tubule. It is the most common type of kidney cancer in adults. Initial therapy is with surgery. It is notoriously resistant to radiation therapy and chemotherapy, although some cases respond to immunotherapy.

I am scheduled for a robotic partial nephrectomy today, to remove a 2.5 cm tumor that is "probably" cancer. Wish me luck!

Sending thoughts your way. I hope that your kidney surgery is behind you now and you are on the road to recovery.
Just follow the surgeon's instructions, take it easy and don't try to do too much too soon.

Thank you Angelpuss, the tumor was removed with good margins and the Dr says no further treatment is necessary. The tumor was found to be malignant. I had a rare type of cancer called Chromophobe RCC

Jester, not many of us out there, I too had Chromophobe, slightly larger than yours at 3.5 I believe, also removed by robotic laposcropy. I am coming up on my 5 year scans, all clear so far.

3 month labs back in march were good don't have to go back until the fall.

Hi, did you have any symptoms like pain or numb foot that went along with it. Did you have a ct with contrast. I am having pain in my right back area and a numb right foot.

Hi! I am scheduled for robotic surgery on my right kidney in about one month. The tumor is 2.5cm. How did the partial nephrectomy go with the robotic surgery (healing time and pain)?

Woofer...love your name! I joined this group, not much action, new member. Left radical nephrectomy, 3 cancer cysts, in 2012. I suspect from your post, you are near to your surgery date, I wish you wellness and strength! Take care, ML

Still cancer free after 9 months but the surgery left me with a hernia that I had repaired 2 days ago. The darn 2 hour hernia operation caused more pain than the 7 hour nephrectomy. Hopefully things will get better in a few more days.
