Hope you get some responses. I feel like someone here or on the DVT board mentioned back pain but I can't recall if it was specifically back pain or aches and pains in general.

I was on Xarelto for a year. I had some hair loss and fatigue but cant say for sure if that was the med or the stress of the whole situation.
I loved the freedom it gave me to eat what I wanted and no blood tests so it was very convenient.
If I ever have to go on one again I will go back to this one...

LOL----- after a certain age (ahem) you feel you can eat all the bacon and desserts you want because the Grim Reaper will probably kill you before nitrites and sugar will. (Please don't bother to say that maybe the Grim Reaper and nitrites work hand in glove! I don't care. Giggle.)

I've read the fine print on the full package insert and also the studies on it. (You know I do that, right?) Back pain has shown up to a very significant degree.

Those that don't get back pain have dodged that bullet, lucky them (and diamorrow).

I'm truly hoping that my increased back pain (most likely from Xarelto) will decrease with time, as so many side effects do. It would be great to hear from people who got the back pain and can say that it DID decrease.

I haven't had the same issue myself. If I have to be a lifer on anti-coag I want to switch to Coumadim actually. I'm only 31 and I don't want to be the guinea pig for, what I hope will be, 40+ more years on xarelto.

I have APS and need to have an INR above 3.0. Since there is no way to measure therapeutic levels on Xarelto, my hematologist said I can't use any of the newer anticoagulants. The only hope for me is the self tester and even that comes with it's own set of problems if you are positive for the Lupus Anticoagulant. Apparently the (LA) can cause the self testing strips to give false INR readings. I will have to have a weekly blood draw to coincide with my self tester for three months to make sure the machine is reading my INR properly. I personally would love to get away from the constant blood monitoring routine and dietary adjustments, but Warfarin is what is best for me and my situation. I wish all of you who make the switch to Xarelto success.

Julie, I'm keeping my fingers crossed that you will not have to become a lifer on Warfarin. I hope you are doing better with your anxiety. I will be sending you positive thoughts and positive energy!

Cave, I made a traditional turkey dinner except no stuffing and I made fake mashed potatoes out of cauliflower, cream cheese and parm cheese which were pretty darn tasty. By the time I was done cooking everything, I wasn't even hungry, ha ha! Seriously I was like, bleh. We have plenty of left overs so I'll dive in today. But I love your idea on the Mediterranean spread. Some of my favorite food ever.

Celiac disease? Gluten intolerance? Or are they the same?
I've heard of mashed cauliflower but never tried it, although I like cauliflower.

My husband does low carb to help manage his diabetes so I try to work around that. But I tell you, I'd almost give my right arm for some mashed potatoes and gravy. Haven't had that in years.

Hello Cave. Since my original diagnosis and release in May, I've been on Xarelto. I haven't noticed any sensitivity to bruising or bleeding, although I suspect (though can't prove) that my immune system may be somewhat weakened. I've had a bout of 'folliculitis' (I call it 'baby acne' lol!) that I've been dealing with, but that's about it.

I recently came off Xarelto after six months of using. I had severe back pain as well...as soon as I discontinued the use of the medication, the pain decreased immensely . I also experienced severe hair loss on the medication. I am much like you in that I have had back pain since my PE, but it was turned up while on Xarelto. I actually didn't realize the pain was from the medication until I came off it...then I put two and two together. I'm curious what you are taking for your back pain...I can't seem to get mine under control.

I have been on Xarelto since March. My only side effects have been headaches early on, and my heartburn/gastro issues are more active. But things settled down as I took it over time. I also changed when I took it during the day so that my experiences with side effects improved. I have a bad L-4, L-5 from football injuries through the years, but Xarelto has not caused any more/less back pain for me.

Inger----- Since I'm a lifer I don't have any choice about coming off Xarelto or Coumadin. I hope you never have to take an anti-coag again! I'm wondering if other new anti-coags have the same side effect vis a vis back pain.

" My doctor wants me to go off my 6 mg of Warfarin blood thinner and onto XARELTO 20MG TAB. She is changing all her patients to that pill.
There are 4 reasons I don't want to do it:
1) Price is $45 compared to $4 for the Warfarin
2) Can cause internal bleeding
3) How do they know if it is working or not with no blood tests at all.
4) Too new and attorney ads are already on TV asking if anyone has taken it and had bad problems occur.

been on Xarelto for 9 months and my symptoms of pain (back/hip joints) and lethagy have diminished. No other side effects other than its a bit longer to stop bleeding if I cut myself and healing is somewhat longer - that might be that I am aging lol. Love not having to be tested all the time...........
