By far the most common form of pulmonary embolism is a thromboembolism, which occurs when a blood clot, generally a venous thrombus, becomes dislodged from its site of formation and embolizes to the arterial blood supply of one of the lungs. Symptoms may include difficulty breathing, pain during breathing, and more rarely circulatory instability and death.
Almost 2 years ago I had a PE when I was 19 weeks pregnant. I was on blood thinners until around 2 months after my baby was born. I recovered well and everything has been fine since except for leftover anxiety that keeps rearing its ugly head.
I live in Canada and it has been quite cold and the air in the house is dry. Today I blew my nose and there was blood on the kleenex. How do I know this isnt innocent because of the air or its the start of another PE. I did have blood in my nose when I had my PE but it was February and I think Ive had this symptom before because of dry air but I cant really remember.
I feel fine otherwise. What should I do?????? Doctor? ER?
I hate having had a blood clot! Nothing is innocent anymore:(

think you have to try to rationalize that your clot was caused by pregnancy. Not fool proof, but given you don't have that risk currently, then chances are it's not a clot. But you can always call your doc if it's worrisome.
