Hi Sarah. It gets better, but it is a long process. I had one last December, and I just recently got off the pain pills. Recovery is different for everyone of course. Some people feel much better after a few weeks or so. Try to stay calm and get some rest. You'll get there :)

Hi it does get better. There's a lot of anxiety that comes with this diagnosis, and it can be a real bear to deal with during recovery. But you are going to be ok. It just takes some time. I had really large clots in both lungs and heart damage as a result, but the heart damage corrected itself and things eventually returned to normal. At the 3 month mark I started seeing really good improvement and felt pretty good. By 6 months I felt really great. I think some of it depends on expectations. Even in the fist couple of months, I didn't feel great, had some pain and was so scared, but I still worked and tried to live as normal as possible. It's really just trying to not let fear paralyze you and to realize you might not feel great some days initially but that doesn't mean you're not recovering.

I am about 3 month out since my bilateral PEs and am just starting to feel like my old self again. My anxiety has lessened a lot. In the beginning I googled about my condition way too much and really worked myself up to the point where I was prescribed anxiety pills. Just take it one day at a time and try not to focus on the "what ifs" and the negatives. You will start to feel better.

I'm 28. 4.5 months after my PE diagnosis. I still feel shitty. I'm so anxious that's probably half my problem.

I"m a month out from having a PE. I am beginning to feel better and am starting to do more and more things. I understand your anxiety. I was scared to death, and afraid to do anything. It does get better, though. Hang in there. You are going to be OK.

Im with you 100% i was diagnosed with PEs in my upoer and lower right lung. Im only 25 as well! They have me on coumadin and tummy shots. Apparently i might also have lupus. How long have you been on treatment? My pain only seems to get worse and percs are useless. I was on 2 mils of dilaudid every 3 hrs in the hospital and that barely did anything! Can't they do anything else? I have a 1 yr old and a 5 yr old. I cant do this forever! I hope you feel start feeling better soon! This is aweful.

hi everyone, I have been diagnosed with PE back in 2012, im 32 now and on a daily dosage of warfarin , its nothing to be scared about as long as you take your meds, be active and eat less greens(not stay away from it) , I feel awesome and you will too , it eventually becomes part of life and you will work around having the thinner blood with all the sweating and mild chest pains, nothing major at all, when you ready I will share the ways to keep going strong and be normal

Hi! I had a massive bilateral PE in 2013. Anxiety is normal, as is fear of death. For myself the first weeks was mixed between anxiety and a strong feeling of being grateful to be alive. However, for me the worst anxiety hit after about 6 months, when I was physically getting better, then I had to deal with the ´"I almost died"- thing. Terrible. I got a lot of anxiety, problems sleeping and also dizziness and feeling like I would faint. I met a therapist who mainly explained it was normal, and gradually it wore off. However, for 1,5 years after my PE I was not able to sleep alone, it just was not possible. I got afraid of all sorts of things, including burglars. It just would't do. When my husband was away my parents had to come stay with me. I was especially afraid of dying in my sleep, and being worried about the children (especially the youngest who was newborn when I got my PE).
But everything does get better! Today I do not have any anxiety. I do become more scared when I have asthma attacks for instance, or strange pains in the back or chest, but not more than I am able to handle. The first weeks and months after a PE is really really scary though!
