Hello everyone! Apologize in advance on how long this is .... 

I am a 47yo female on her 3rd round of PEs.  My first episode was in 2014, my GYN dr gave me progesterone to take to stop heavy bleeding, I took 2 pills and ended with PE.  My GYN doctor was in shock because he has prescribed this for years and never had anyone have a PE.  But that is what the ER said it was.  I followed up with my primary doctor, who never had my INR between 2-3 it was always like 1.9 but he said it was fine.  After 3 months he took me off the Coumadin. A month later, I had trouble breathing and had this cough, so when I immediately went to see my primary and he thought it was whooping cough. I said are you sure?! He said well go get a d dimer test to be sure. So I went to the ER and sure enough they had me do another cat scan.  I had bilateral PEs both lungs.  Did a Doppler on my legs and found nothing.  So they don’t where they came from.  Put me on Xarelto.... neither time I was in hospital did they have me consult with a hematologist.  So I stayed on Xarelto for a year. In that year, the Xarelto made my menstrual periods so bad, I got so sick, they had to do a uterine ablation so I would stop bleeding. (Different hospital).  At that point they had me a hematologist, who said there was no reason to be on blood thinners anymore after a year.  Took me off the xarelto.  

Fast forward to 2018 and I was at work and noticed my breathing was off.  I went to primary (a new one) and she sent me for d dimer and chest xray.  She called me and said d dimer came back very high, go to ER.  So I went to a different hospital and they did a cat scan and I had 3 PEs between both lungs.  They did a Doppler on legs,  blood work and an echocardiogram.  The Doppler and echo came back negative.  Still waiting on blood work.  They said it takes awhile.  They treated me with Lovenox in hospital but started me on Xarelto on my discharge.  The hematologist that came in to see me, I didn’t care for his attitude.  He was like you are gonna be on blood thinners for the rest of your life or at least for years then maybe we could talk about a couple aspirin a day.  I asked him what are causing these , he said sometimes there are no answers.
