Pulmonary Embolism Support Group
By far the most common form of pulmonary embolism is a thromboembolism, which occurs when a blood clot, generally a venous thrombus, becomes dislodged from its site of formation and embolizes to the arterial blood supply of one of the lungs. Symptoms may include difficulty breathing, pain during breathing, and more rarely circulatory instability and death.
People who take coumadin aren't really on it for fun. We'd all prefer not to take it, but it's SAVING OUR LIVES. And honestly, that's a pretty fantastic bargain if you ask me.
Honestly I do hate pharmaceuticals and the companies that push them (though I have just about as high an opinion of vitamin and supplement companies), but there are a whole lot more evil and expensive medications which are taken unnecessarily - go pick on those.
Frankly, most anything you purchase is making someone rich somewhere.
His company helps keep people alive and I hope we're paying him well to do it.
I don't begrudge him. I wouldn't want his job and he probably wouldn't want mine either.
Of course, I take the generic, so I'm not really helping pay his paycheck either.
The blanket endorsement of ALL CEO's, though, seems a bit lacking in hindsight. (grin)
As an aside, I've always wondered about Presidents and CEO's of companies that generate billions of dollars in revenue (esp. those that make life-saving drugs and devices!) that seem to either have no control or are oblivious to what shoddy and shady practices people supposedly 'under their control' are up to.
Still talking about Bristol Meyer (as just one example) ---that company was involved in several 'scandals' . (Andreotti wasn't at BMS then).
But there WERE Presidents and CEO's then. Just not Andreotti. And they were making the big bucks.
I hope that Andreotti can steer a clear course for BMS in the future.
Neither am I. I wouldn't be a CEO even if I could be! Because the 'buck stops there' and they ARE ultimately responsible for what occurs on their watch---- because of those bucks.
There ARE a lot of honest hardworking CEO's. I don't begrudge them their 'salaries'. (And a check of other CEO's 'salaries' will show that Andreotti is among the lowest salary of the Top Ten drug manufacturer CEOs.)
But I still find it interesting and a bit strange, as I posted above, that a CEO (NOT Andreotti at this point) doesn't know what goes on in his company. If I were rich---- and I hired someone to look after my money/business---- I'd sure put him on a short leash!
Oh, and BTW----- I will continue to add to Mr. Andreotti's coffers by buying Coumadin. It's droll that some think I was dissing the use of Coumadin. (grin)
And even if that was written, would that be better or worse than the unfounded implication that this CEO is somehow inept, on the take, or otherwise doesn't deserve the compensation package that BMS board approved?
Simply saying someone make "X" amount of money without any context doesn't really say anything.
That's true. But other people did have a lot to say. (grin)
I find you interesting, you can seem so compassionate and supportive and at other times such a sh#tstirer.. I get that you were proably just making a sarcastic humourous post, it just seems a little off though, espcially for new people who , as you know are really going through some scarey , confusing times...your sense of humour ( and I am just assuming that it's your sense of humour)may not be coming across the way you mean it too?
Just my two cents worth :)
I'm not having a go at you, just sometimes things can be misunderstood very easily over the internet :)
