By far the most common form of pulmonary embolism is a thromboembolism, which occurs when a blood clot, generally a venous thrombus, becomes dislodged from its site of formation and embolizes to the arterial blood supply of one of the lungs. Symptoms may include difficulty breathing, pain during breathing, and more rarely circulatory instability and death.

Hi i had posted a few months back i will summarize briefly my journey so far on august 16th of 2016 2 months after having my son via c section at 30 years old i was diagnosed with multiple bi lateral pulmonary embolisms without dvt for months now i have been feeling off again and on wednesday june 14th 2017 i began feeling extremely ill. On thursday evening i was admitted into hospital with lung tissue death hemmorhging and the most excruciating pain i have ever felt in my life something i didnt experience with my last PEs cause i dunno they werent this bad anyways at first i was told i had a large clot in my left lung only to be told a day later that i had multiple heavy burden medium clots in major vessels. I was told again they were un provoked it hasnt even been a year in between and im terrified what is happening here has anyone else experineced this??? Im so confused and being tested for everything including cancers. My liver enzymes are through the roof. I am now out of hospital as i am stable. Please does anyone have any advice about this anything at all would be so helpful im soo lost.

Hiya yeah I've had multiple repeat PEs. It seems to run in my family so I'm on the lifetime anticoagulation train. Is there anything specific you were wondering about?

Two time clotter here too, unprovoked. I'm on life long anticoagulants. My advice is to try to stay calm, take it a day at a time.

I am wondering if anyone either one of you had no cause i have now been diagnosed with an autoimmune liver disorder but it has nothing to do with the clots. Whats hard for me is the no answer as to why? Any tests i could maybe ask for? Im soo afraid my children will have the same issue.

No specific reason. I have an increased risk due to having ulcerative colitis (some autoimmune diseases can increase the risk for clots) but otherwise no idea.

My hematologist said there are so many unknowns still about clotting. Having one clot does increase the odds for another. Sometimes there is also not one cause but a perfect storm
If things happening in your body that triggers a clot.

Did your doctor test you for genetic blood clotting factors?

    We all have 24 hours in a day.  How we spend these hours is important.  Watching a little bit of a video about how sitting affects us made me aware of how much sitting and laying down I do.  Gonna have to work on that.Your turn.  Tell me another truth.
