Pulmonary Embolism Support Group
By far the most common form of pulmonary embolism is a thromboembolism, which occurs when a blood clot, generally a venous thrombus, becomes dislodged from its site of formation and embolizes to the arterial blood supply of one of the lungs. Symptoms may include difficulty breathing, pain during breathing, and more rarely circulatory instability and death.
Hello everyone!
I am almost exactly two months out from my initial PE diagnosis. I consider myself one of the lucky ones as I walked into the ER, and was released from hospital the next day. I was told I had several "small" PE's, and one "moderately" sized clot near the bottom of my right lung, that would lead to a small part of my lung dieing off. (I wasn't given any fancy medical terms like some of you).
While all the pain I was experiencing is gone, I still have this nasty dry cough that just won't go away. I also find that I often experience what I can only describe as a mild "tightness" in my lungs. It's sort of like being congested with a cold. It seems to me this "symptom" of recovery occurs more on days where I am doing a lot of squatting or bending over. (Like when I was helping my mother plant her garden). I think it may be because the bending is putting more pressure on my lungs in some way, but I can't be sure. I also find that on these more "congested" days I'm way more exhausted at the end of the day. Good news is it's not "hard" or "painful" to breathe...it's just that I notice my breathing more, if that makes sense.
Is there anyone out there who had the same feeling from recovery? And did it eventually go away? My GP guesstimated that it would probably take 3 - 6 months for full recovery...and I'm only at the 2 month mark. I'm just wondering if this will actually get better over time, or if it will just become my new normal.

We all have 24 hours in a day. How we spend these hours is important. Watching a little bit of a video about how sitting affects us made me aware of how much sitting and laying down I do. Gonna have to work on that.Your turn. Tell me another truth.
