Pulmonary Embolism Support Group
By far the most common form of pulmonary embolism is a thromboembolism, which occurs when a blood clot, generally a venous thrombus, becomes dislodged from its site of formation and embolizes to the arterial blood supply of one of the lungs. Symptoms may include difficulty breathing, pain during breathing, and more rarely circulatory instability and death.
Diagnosed three weeks ago. Have a strange symptom
Hello,
I was diagnosed with a DVT three weeks ago. Several days later, I was diagnosed with a PE. The doctors said I caught both very early and neither are life threatening. I was told the symptoms will come and go for about two weeks. I was prescribed Eliquis/Apixaban and sent home.
Since then, I've been to the ER twice. Both times it was because my heart starting beating very fast and I felt a bizarre rushing sensation. Both times, I was discharged and told I was fine.
Yesterday, I had a similar episode. As I was walking, I felt slight pull in my calf and immediately my heart started racing. Has anyone experienced this? Is anyone's calf pain directly linked to palpitations?
This also happened the second time I went to the ER - I stepped down off a curb and a few seconds later my heart started racing.
I know the doctors said the symptoms would come and go but if my calf pain is somehow triggering my palpitations does that mean I should stop walking?

We all have 24 hours in a day. How we spend these hours is important. Watching a little bit of a video about how sitting affects us made me aware of how much sitting and laying down I do. Gonna have to work on that.Your turn. Tell me another truth.
I would not stop walking, if your doc gave you the ok to walk. You may want to follow up with your doctor just to explain what's happening but it really does sound normal.
