Pulmonary Embolism Support Group
By far the most common form of pulmonary embolism is a thromboembolism, which occurs when a blood clot, generally a venous thrombus, becomes dislodged from its site of formation and embolizes to the arterial blood supply of one of the lungs. Symptoms may include difficulty breathing, pain during breathing, and more rarely circulatory instability and death.
Prescribed progesterone to help treat premenopausal symptoms while on blood thinners after hemorrhage.
Label says to take one 10mg tablet 1-10 days of calendar month. I was told by Dr to start taking it at beginning of month for 10 days. Reading label the 1-10 days can be interpreted as “1 to 10 days” or “from the 1st to the 10th.”
i currently have no way to communicate with my Drs because they are both on holidays but I got my INR results back from yesterday via sign in online and my INR dropped to 1.9. I knew something was wrong because my blood pressure was off and I had problems breathing again. Currently take 9mgs of warfarin and have not eaten any greens.
Decided not to take the progesterone this morning, had a horrible sleep thinking about my INR level all night I was very conscious of my vein in my leg I had a slight pain. .
Wondering if anyone on progesterone knows if by not taking the full 1-10 days if it will effect next months cycle? I am not in any immediate danger of hemorrhaging as I just finished this months cycle and the pills helped to stop it. I only took 3 pills of the suggested 10. I feel the 1.8 INR is more of a danger.

We all have 24 hours in a day. How we spend these hours is important. Watching a little bit of a video about how sitting affects us made me aware of how much sitting and laying down I do. Gonna have to work on that.Your turn. Tell me another truth.
An INR of 1.9, 1.8 is pretty close to 2. In other words, while not therapeutic, it’s not that low. I find it hard to believe no one at your doctors office can give you guidance on your INR, but when I was on warfarin, if my INR was like 1.8, 1.9 my doc would usually tell me to keep on my normal dose and retest in a week to 10 days. If it was still dropping, then he’s adjust the dosage.
My gynaecologist is retiring and just closed his office only working out of town hospital in ambulatory care now. I tried calling his office and number doesn’t exist. Very frustrating as he ordered me an iron infusion for anemia with instructions to get a full blood count in 2 weeks after second iron infusion but failed to give me a blood requisition for me to get it done. I called the hospital and ambulatory care is closed until Jan 8th. Then my family dr (who is watching my warfarin dose), comes back from holidays Jan 9th. The spealist I saw in November told me she won’t prescribe warfarin because of the extra monitoring it needs and suggested I take another medication. I refused at this point because I had so many issues and had no problems on warfarin. With the holidays coming I didn’t want to chance changing medications just to please her. It is very frustrating and kinda just adds to my frustrations. I don’t feel like all the Drs I’m seeing are communicating and I could really use them to because I feel like I’m balancing it all on my own. Diabetes, anemia from the blood loss during hemorrhage from first blood thinners I took all on top of the PE.
I tell you though I could kinda guess my INR was going to be low because my heart started acting off and my blood pressure went high in addition to being out of breath again.
I’m not quite sure I get the correlation between low INR and shortness of breath/heart palps or rate/ high blood pressure. I mean shortness of breath and heart palps or skips or things like that are often related to anemia as well, and also to anxiety and stress. I’ve had low INRs over the years when I was on warfarin, like down to 1.2 and could never tell until I was tested. Anyway, you’ll be ok. I’ve had iron infusions and eventually the do make you feel so much better. Hang in there.
I felt funny 2 days before my INR test and that was right after I started the progesterone so I just thought that was it. Had my second last infusion right after Boxing Day.
