I detoxed off of methadone 6 months ago and i have not felt right since. i had the 2 weeks of hell when i first come off it, all the night sweats and insomnia and pain. but looking back on it that was the easy part. even this long after i feel depresed and anxious still have cold chills through my body still struggle to sleep. I no longer enjoy things that i used to enjoy, i find it hard to concentrate. And i've started taking codein and benzo's again because i felt that there was no end to the pain. Now i'm pissed off with myself because i'm now dependant on 2 things that are really hard to kick. I never thaught it would take this long to get back to normal, methadone is evil it's completely broke me. I hope to speak to people on here who also feel this way so i can relate or even people who have actually recoverd, i havent heard too many success stories when it comes to methadone recovery, i know of alot of people who have relapsed though

check out that smoke ring. It tasted really good. I smothered it with Maulls BBQ sauce which is Local to St. Louis and one of the best I ever had.....

I was recently separated from my wife of 33 years and it's complicated. Anyway I rented a room about 15 minutes away and I see my kids about once a week. I see the people who own the house I live in once in a while but other than that I stay in my room where I do my cooking, wash dishes in the shower, read, color, and sleep. I get out at least once a day. I grocery shop and I attend 2 meetings...

I can identify with the sleepless nights, fatigue and inability to concentrate., and the depression lasts long after the physical withdrawals have subsided. It's a depression so bad, that many addicts can't handle it and will attempt suicide! Severe feelings of loss and isolation. This is why you need alot of support!
You need to talk to your doctor. He can prescribe an antidepressant medication to help you get through it. Pristiq is a good one and cymbalta is also pretty good and helps with pain as well. Try not to take anymore codiene. Codeine and methadone are pretty much the same, they just work a little differently, thats all.
Please keep in mind that there is happiness after this horrible ride you are on finally comes to an end. It just takes the brain a long time to heal. It can take up to a year.
First thing you need to do is get in to see your doctor asap! Tell him/her everything!
In the meantime we will keep you in our thoughts and prayers. Please keep us posted and hang in there. Don't give up!
God Bless!
I also had a brush with death when my kidneys failed but now I am as healthy as an ox and I run every day. We all have a purpose in life.
The thing about prescribing antidepressant medication is that it's not an exact science, so doctors will try different ones to see what works. They all start you off at the lowest dose so if you don't feel they are working, you need to tell your doctor and he/she will either increase the dose or try a different one.
One of the things that helped me in the beginning was 12 step meetings of NA and AA. Believing in a power greater then myself has helped me. Some it helps and some it doesn't, it's just a matter of choosing the right road to recovery that best fits you.
Hang in there and God Bless!
