Wow, did that ever SUCK! STRESS.

Wow, did my backup interview with another college in California today ever SUCK. First of all, because it wasn't via Skype after all. My bad. In their email acknowledging that I had sent my Skype address, lower down in the body of the email they said to use Zoom instead. I never heard of it and thought it was a Skype feature, so I prepped on Skype with and had Skype open at the appointed interview time.
So the interviewers called me on my cell phone to download this Zoom program and set it up WHILE THEY WAITED! STRESS.
You can imagine how nervous I was--imagine setting up Skype for the very first time with a potential employer on the phone waiting. Nerve wracking. STRESS.
Don't know how, but I stayed calm and didn't get triggered and have some PTSD seizure or something. I guess partly by deciding I could kiss a shot at the job goodbye from the get go, and that the point now was just to get through the interview.
I got this Zoom program downloaded and working--on video. No audio. None. So that meant we spoke seeing each other on video on our computer screens while talking on my cell phone. STRESS..
My teaching demonstration involved playing a pop song while I displayed the lyrics on screen. Doesn't work over a cell phone. Instead, I just showed them my Powerpoint without any music. STRESS.
I can't believe I even got through the interview at all. Good thing I have a shot at a job with tenure where I am because my tenure interview went well last week, thanks to your DS PTSD support. I'm pretty sure I'll never hear from this college in California again. Ever.
At least I soldiered on and didn't cry. They commented on my composure. Helps that I have past experience as a chaplain working in a big city hospital emergency room with gun shot wound victims, huh? Well, at least in this situation today, nobody died. Just, you know, STRESS.

My heart bleeds for the non-tech professors currently trying to run their own on-line equipment while looking intelligent in their chosen, no-tech specialties. Isn't that like asking Shakespeare run his own back stage support?
Forgive them, Lord, for they know not what they do?
One of many reasons I got out of the biz. . . Give me a sustainable job description and maybe I'll schedule an interview and after the interview is scheduled, I may consider downloading your preferred apps. My hard-drives are kinda full, ya know. . .
