On Wed. I posted under another thread "something's wrong." I was vomiting Tues. night, I couldn't sleep, was fatigued, more PTSD, trouble maintaining.
My doctor just called. What was wrong was a kidney infection brought on by my kidney damage which was brought on by Seroquel meds for PTSD meeting undetected diabetes onset. Blood sugar episodes mistaken for PTSD episodes, given more meds, more kidney damage until they're 60% gone now and infected. Living in fatigue on 40% kidney function with no PTSD meds allowed, all flashbacks and panic attacks full on.
A merry go round that's not so merry. Sigh.
But in 15 months I have NOT taken a single sick day.
So it's kidney infection. At least they can give me antibiotics for the infection now.
Thanks to everybody who supported me through this kidney infection this week and encouraged me to go get blood and urine lab work done. You were right.

Used a different debit card and pulled apart everything looking for missing debit card before I left parking lot. Got home, dropped keys. So now I have a missing debit card, missing keys. But as a diabetic even a small fever can upset the sugar levels and increase the effects on our system. The fever was also reminiscent of the same fever that almost took me in 2012, but with no one around to check on me.
That can trigger even more symptomatic responses to things both physically and psychologically. It will make a mountain from a grain of sand.
For me the depression this time of year brings is worse when I am bed bound because my AR OA and Fibro all join the chorus. Its hard to keep the PTSD at bay when all this is going on.
People here send more virtual hugs than I usually ever get in the real world now.Unfortunately I get quiet when in emotional breakdown, so then not even those here know.
I send you prayers for healing.friendship for comfort and camaraderie in this fight.

Glad you got the handle on it and are on the road to recovery. Go muji!!!
I feel like I can say this, and the true meaning won't be lost on you (or on most of us, sadly):
It's hard to GET healthy when you're not healthy.
May this -- yet another hit -- pass quietly, and quickly, and ... maybe leave you with even more energy than before.
There's always the chance that it was percolating/simmering before it became "frank" or "fulminant."
Yeah. I just like those two words ;-)
Maybe you've been fighting it for a while. The antimicrobial calvary ... is here, now :-)
Feel better, my friend.
Jewells, i don't have fibro and stuff on top of it all like you do, but I related when you wrote "But as a diabetic even a small fever can upset the sugar levels and increase the effects on our system." And then you wrote " It will make a mountain from a grain of sand."
I KNOW! I've been reining myself in, but the little snotty things a bratty student might say here and there in the course of just being themselves got to me more this week with kidney infection + diabetes. You're right. Glad I didn't act on any of those mountains I made of grains of sand, but I felt every one.
Now take the antibiotic, which has side effect warnings of more neuropathy (I have lots) and "depression," "paranoia," "suicidal thoughts or acts," "nightmares." From an antibiotic!
As the late great Gilda Radner's Roseanne Rosannadanna would put it:

My thoughts and prayers are with you as always my friend.
Sending you love and light for a quick recovery. Oh yes I think its wonderful that you haven't had to take any time off but like DW said now would be the time for you to do so. You are our family so we are letting you know we care and think you need some rest from this. A kidney infection is serious for anyone but especially you my friend. Many hugs
Get well soon
I'm sorry to hear you've got much on your plate health wise and mood/anxiety wise. I don't know how I'd fare without a med as a shield to deflect ptsd effects.
Resorative spring break my friend xx
I agree with those who say I've been pushing myself too hard and deserve to take a sick day. I have been trying not to because I work for young energetic bosses who don't seem to get chronic illness. They work out at school in our school gym and make a point of coming back to their offices in stylish track suits for all to see. Geez, it's like the energetic youthful administration of Pres. John F. Kennedy and its Camelot crew. Then there's broken down fat old Santa Claus-looking me with his chronic kidney failure and his PTSD.
In the first year of my diagnosis I missed 6 sick days, and my young boss sent HR to my office by surprise to ask if I needed to be let go to go on disability. Even if she meant well, that was NOT the way to show support someone who works for you. It made me realize how much she didn't get it, and how I could end up in a lawsuit with her having to explain it that way.
So I've tried hard to have the best attendance record I can. I knew that, despite good intentions and anti-discrimination laws, eyes were upon me--hers and those of the human resources staff she sent to my office.
I come up for tenure at my community college next year, and despite how anti-discrimination laws say we're all equal, I know if I get tenure I'll be on stronger footing to defend my rights. Then I'll feel more protected about taking my sick days.
I was laid off after only one year and in May, too, by the last college I worked for, for "budget" reasons. In fact, I know they hired a younger professor in my place--she and I have been in contact and know each other. So I know colleges can get around having to give cause and can in fact discriminate against workers due to their age and health. No one is out to get me, I'm well liked, I do a good job, I like my boss a lot. But I know the score, too. Business is business, even at a college.
That's why I thank you so much for your support. 1 more year, and if I get tenure, I feel I'll be out of the woods on this. Gratitude to all!
