I'm so tired. Life just hurts. What can I do if I've tried therapy and medication? Every task I try just exhausts me, and getting out of bed feels like a chore. I've been progressively getting this way over the last three years due to a traumatic experience that has caused frequent anxiety attacks, lack of sleep, and created triggers.

Things can get better.
What can you do?
There are a variety of things that people do to manage anxiety and depression besides therapy and medication.
Many people use exercise for a natural endorphin boost. Also, people often benefit from practicing some forms of meditation. Personally, I use upbeat positive music a lot. I also use prayer a lot. Additionally, people often engage in the arts.
If you look through past posts there may be other ideas.
Even though therapy and medication haven't worked yet for you, sometimes a different therapist or a different medication will work when a prior one hasn't - so don't give up.
Write your trauma experience in detail and then your dream and compare the differences. You may find that your dream details don’t exactly line up with the real event. This can help you realize the dream is not real and that you are safe. Read the Trauma back to yourself every day. This is tedious, but you will find it becomes less intimidating and more livable. Then this is the hardest step to learn. Remove your emotions from the trauma and treat it like it’s just a stor.y. You will always remember it but it will have much less significance in your life.
This is hard, but give it a try. It helps a lot and gets you back on track with life. Best Wishes.
Im so sorry to hear you're struggling. This week has been a tough one, I agree. I have no energy and can't get anything done. Please find solace in knowing you're not alone.
Have you worked with a psychiatrist re the medication that you're on??.... I was also wondering if the therapy is trauma therapy?
I hope that you don't mind the questions... I think specialized care can help over time
This is a good board... I am so sorry for what's brought you here but glad that you've found us.... Big hug....xo
Validation helped me face that when I came here. Folks here shared PTSD therapist Pete Walker's website with me that gave me quick and hard facts and info on what I was going through. I pass it along to others every chance I get because it helped me so much. Here's steps to help us get through flashbacks. I get them all the time up in front of my classroom when I'm teaching, and these tips help me get through them to do my job.
