was triggered by my old dance studio closing, reopening upstairs from a brewery I frequent under the ownership of a couple, one half of which heavily reminds me of being assaulted. Let’s call her “Tori.” Then, my current dance teacher starts a new production company that seems to use that space. She kept inviting me, but I really can’t go there. My stomach is in knots thinking about going there.
So, I’m venting about (no names no details though) that to a dance friend, because he’s the only dance friend with no connection to the old studio, talking about his book. He came out as bi to me, and I wonder if that’s why I’d felt some connection to him. The only thing that had made me wonder was how oddly masculine he was making one of his female characters.
Anyway, just to get closure, I watched some videos of my ex dance teacher the studio had posted before closing. A lot of the hate and fear I had are gone; I almost feel sorry for him. I had vented in my business complaint that it would be a fitting punishment if he was banned from his own dance showcase; because I’d been invited to a showcase by Tori at a bookstore and had gone to a dance party a few nights later, thinking everything was fine, after all, it had been three months since his announcement that he wouldn’t dance with me, only to be greeted at the door with menacing and assault by the male dance teacher.
I didn’t think anyone was listening or cared, but he never appears in anymore of the studio’s showcases after summer 2016; maybe someone did agree with me.
I do feel more closure and hope I can continue to move on

I did the dumbest thing today. I charged my earbuds, unplugged the block and put the block in my little bag instead of the earbuds. I wasn't happy about that when I got to the gym. What a dummy!

Do you have a life outside of dance? Just curious. You are not obligated to answer.
Still more healing hopes for the dance trauma.
Stay at home mom, so most of my life is biking to the store and cooking. I’m doing charity work and help my husband with technical writing and accompany him to events where we represent the company. Also in choir.
Why the obsession with dance and this incident? I had taken ballroom dance shortly before being assaulted by my uncle in the ‘90s and had never really been able to get back to dancing because of my medical problems. My disastrous experience of 2015 touched on so many threads in my life that left me perplexed.
Dunno if it applies here, but a clear pattern in my strictly personal herstory is using lesser traumas, such as an argument with a co-worker, to distract myself from the greater trauma that were leaving messes all over my life. Dealing with the deeper PTSD symptoms provided considerable relief across the board.
Dunno if that even makes sense, but. . .
More healing hopes.
In my own case, the family dysfunctions were intense enough to allow child sex trafficking. Working on my own resulting psychoses (pl) with the help of my birth family was not an option. Putting undue emphasis on peripheral traumas which are more symptom than cause never got me anywhere. Not even when the peripheral traumas were perpetrated by teaches, profies or instructors.
But every case is unique. Continued support while you decide which way to take your own case.
