I'm so tired. Two days ago I passed a test with a lot of needles pushed into my feet and legs to find out how far my nerve damage has gone. I found out I don't feel anything up to the tops of my socks, but I can still drive. That's great, but it was a stressful test, though. The nerves in my feet are numb but today the nerves in my head are PTSD tired from the stress even though it turned out well.
Today I hoped to teach my Friday classes and come home to rest, but it was not to be. A student had a death in the family, so they came crying to me. I thought that was my quota of giving comfort for the day, but right after that another student came to me crying because her doctor chose to use a phone call to tell her she has cancer. Insensitive doctor. So she cried in my office for an hour over lunch time. Then a student told me about being raped as a kid by her mom's boyfriend, and I got to steer her toward here at DS PTSD.
After lunch I spent all afternoon after that in a meeting with my fellow community college instructors working on writing next year's college catalog. There was a long discussion of whether to say "emphasis upon" or "emphasis on." After talking today to students about a death in the family and getting cancer and recovering from child rape, I couldn't relate. At another meeting people were talking about their vacations in Cancun and the parties they were going to attend this weekend. There I could relate less.
Sunday I speak at a church again. I'd like to inspire, but I'm tired. All of my adult life I've resisted the temptation to give in to my childhood idea that some of us are golden boys and girls who live stress free, and some of us seem to get our extra portion of stress. But today my adult self is tired and that childhood idea is taking over. That's not great for my PTSD, so anyone who'd like to remind me of my more balanced adult view is very welcome to do so. I'm tired.
I know others are, too.

Hey all, i know its been quite awhile since i posted on here. Its been a summer all right. Its been something else........... You know how they say not to open the can of worms? Well a few months ago i decided to find out what my due date would have been for my first baby, the one conceived by r***. My baby would have been due on March 4th of 2006. They would be 20 years old. I was R**** on June...

The test must have been 'nerve wracking'.... another hug and a blessing
I'd need some rest and time to replenish as well... I think our bodies and minds tell us what's needed
Perhaps you could call the church tonight or tomorrow if you aren't up to speaking?...so they could arrange someone else to talk??
It's important to listen I believe to the voice within... You're dealing with a lot and it's so important to take care of you... I hope you have a good sleep tonight....xo
you sure are dealing with a lot of issues, and i have no doubt you'll find the sun again and handle it with your usual grace.
i figure we are all in kaka to our ankles, and the only difference lies in the kind... cow, horse, pig, chicken, cat, dog, don't matter, it is all stinky poo for the person standing in it.
Mind you, iam exhausted and cranky so that may not have helped, but end of the day? We luv ya, we hear ya, and we understand that trying to be all adult and rational is not easy...
purrrrrzzzzzz and hugs,
leo
I got my news of having cancer over the phone... while in Biology class during the break. Even being 42 at the time, I curled up in hubby's arms that night and cried. It was wonderful of you to do that for your student.
That another was able to come to you about such a serious crime against her, shows how much you are a father figure to your students.
Hang in there, your soul shines bright enough for others to see it.

Wish I could link elbows with you in the South American fashion so that you could lean on me while it looks to the world like we are just being friendly.
But maybe you need a kid's day.
Being entirely an adult all the time is really wearing on anybody, you know? Little you needs a bit of play time.
What does that look like?
Muji, you amaze me. I wish there were people like you in my life. Ones that I could have told the dark secrets that have eaten holes in me.I am just amazed how much you keep giving. Even if you don't do a kid for a day day I suggest you do a selfcare day. Take ome time to take very good care of you. Heart mind and body.

Glad to hear that you got over the hump. One hump at a time????
