Eldest son (36) is still cycling. I do not know if his violence is still escalating, or not. He has not been welcome here since the night he bashed in the second car windshield in two weeks and left us frightened for the safety of the grandchildren whose mother was undergoing emergency surgery.
Text attacks are a well defined part of his undiagnosed abuse cycle. He bombards whomever he is targeting at the moment with tedious, seemingly endless text rants. So far, I have not had to endure many of his text attacks in the current bachelor break-up drama, but. . . Got my turn today. Yucko bucko, it doth sucko. I must have handled it fairly well, though, because he quit before I had to turn off my phone. I mostly handled it with silence. Is it a sign of progress that the attack was less about the Long Gone Evil Ex and more about the unemployed homelessness that resulted from all the drama?
No need for the intervention tips. . . The man is as therapy resistant as they come. I have tried as often as I have cried. . . Prayers -by whatever name- appreciated.
Just venting. . .

I did the dumbest thing today. I charged my earbuds, unplugged the block and put the block in my little bag instead of the earbuds. I wasn't happy about that when I got to the gym. What a dummy!

Sympathies...major sympathies.
On the eldest son's personal scale, the text rants he has been sending me throughout this particular cycle are downright civilized. Arfie arf and a woofie woof, too. Gr-r-r-r. . . It doesn't console me much that he is simply targeting other victims. The older he gets, the nastier this cycle feels and looks. The cultural icon of the middle-aged-child? It's not me. It's the world that's crazy. Maybe. That still don't make your fist in my face sexy.
I find myself wanting to put on my fortune teller's cap and predict that we are within days of the financial requests for funding to clean up the mess. Homeless. Unemployed. Most everybody he knows suffering emotional bruising and broken windows. Pending legal charges.
I am trying to continue my study of, "How to be hurt without giving up on love."
A big part of me wants to join the Significant Other in the Toxic People Landfill. Doesn't take much to over-dose me on humans who believe their fecal matter is non-toxic. Not even with the ones I call, "Son."
Sigh. . . Trying to take it in small bytes and long chews.
A conversation with my youngest son --the one whose wife was in emergency surgery during the thick of this family drama-- has given me a most unexpected hope. He is wondering if eldest son's current cycle is leading to a healing breakthrough between himself and his brother. Did I call it, "A conversation?" In fact, I treated it like an ears open, mouth shut moment. You sorting, me listening.
Do miracles happen?
