It's like the rug was pulled out from under me. My tdoc yesterday told me to take responsibility for my own past instead of blaming others for not having a happy childhood. So what? Is it my fault the my uncle raped me when I was 3? Is it my fault that my uncle sold me for drugs when I was 9 and sat back and allowed me to be gang raped? Is it my fault that he got me pregnant and then killed that baby when I was 13? I mean what part of this am I supposed to take responsibility for?? Is it my fault that I was kidnapped and held for 17 hours and repeatedly raped when I was 17? What part of this am I taking on?? This is a need to know question. What part of this is my fault??? Does anyone know the answer to that or do I need to seek the answer elsewhere?

I haven't written in my diary on my computer since May because I thought that my computer was dying. I got away from writing but my computer is hanging in there. I think that I will start writing in it again. It's so therapeutic.

First, I hope everyone is doing well, and continuing to fight that good fight! Keep up the great work on yourselves; I'm rooting for all of you!So, I started doing therapy at the beginning of the year, when I was in my most depressed state, but with my therapist, I made big changes and steps in the right direction. But, over a month ago, she couldn't take my insurance anymore, and I had to stop...
But that is me. . . It's okay if it doesn't make sense to you.
None of this is your fault, Precious. Hope healing happens here.
Knowing who is guilty of the crimes which tore my world apart did not help to heal or rebuild my world. Not even in the cases where a judge's gavel agreed with me. What does blame have to do with the healing and rebuilding part? I am certainly not going to trust my perpetrators with that job. Proof unavailable, but I do believe that healing is an inside job. If I can't do it, nobody can.
Again, just my just-a-patient opine. . .
Continued support while you sort your own, Presh.

I might have a sit down with that therapist and say, "I'll make a deal with you. I will not take the blame for all the crap that happened to me growing up. However, I will take responsibility for what I do from today going forward."
I still get pissed about what happened. And when I have physical problems and the doctor asks what happened, I can say "That's from whiplash because I was shaken as a baby." Not my fault. And I can be angry about it. But it's my neck. So I need to take responsibility for what to do to take care of myself. No one else is going to do that. And I can be pissed that I need to spend so much time cleaning up the mess they left of my mind and body. But I still need to clean it up.
There is SOOO much power in saying, "I couldn't stop you then but I get to decide what I'm going to do about it now" and do the hard work of healing. I felt stronger and more capable (but no less angry).
Look into Teal Swan, "The Spiritual Catalyst" on Youtube. She was horribly abused as a child, and she subscribes to the method of working "from the bottom up", connecting with the person on the level of their current ability, rather than demanding that they reach you instead.
Hugs of support. You can't change the past but you are not responsible for the actions of the ones that abused their authority.
It just brings back my anger and hurt from years ago when I reported the assault to my command and they blamed me for what happened. And then again 3 yrs later when I was beaten for refusing to sleep with a man, my command once again defended the criminal, punished me and promoted him. These criminals should be rotting in jail for what they did. We didn't bring this on ourselves. Victim shaming is horrible. It's NOT our fault. Screw that therapist, he should lose his license!
