Do you guys think that the lack of being at congregation, whether faithfully or family taught, affects those who are challenged with their mental health? I write this since my latest job has required my Sundays. And if anything else, if God allows to, my next job might take up those days as well.
I know God doesn't punish or look down at those who don't because their commitment is made to be somewhere else. I am wondering how to match up my integral values with my lifestyle. I understand we need to work because it's just life, but as time passes, I find it hard to accept simplicity, as much as I'd desire it.
I put a lot of effort and passion into taking care of myself and well being. But, am I in over my head? Hope this makes sense.

I did the dumbest thing today. I charged my earbuds, unplugged the block and put the block in my little bag instead of the earbuds. I wasn't happy about that when I got to the gym. What a dummy!

Ever since I stopped doing therapy because of insurance, I've been feeling that old tense and irritable sense of anxiety and stress. I hate that. I was making so many strides and changes during therapy, my therapist would acknowledge all of my progress and accomplishments, and I miss that reassurance. Today I thought about it, and I made those changes! She would always tell me that I chose to...
For sure, balancing work needs and personal needs is an on-going challenge.
Keep trying, Kat. Finding the right words to voice the problem can be hard sometimes, but it is worth the effort in my own recovery road. It is hard to find answers to a question I can't put into words.
But I don't think that that's what you're saying. I think that you're looking for fellowship through a church. Umm, why not find one that has services at different times of the week? Wed evening? Monday morning breakfasts? When I was a kid I used to go with a friend to potluck dinners with a short service on some weekday or other (I really don't remember). Perhaps a Bible study? Some churches have weekly work groups...it's usually light work with a small prayer. If there isn't anything at your church that works, call around to different ones around the area. If you explain the situation, I'm fairly certain they'll take you as a visiting member. For that matter, why not ask your pastor?
I haven't got it figured out yet, Kat, but I can tell you not to feel too guilty about it with God. The guilty feelings come from letting the church people you're committed to down. As far as the guilt with God, I say let that go. If you look at your Bible you'll see that Jesus only went to church twice, once to announce his ministry, and the other time to tear the Temple up for having becoming a money making enterprise. I know, it sounds weird, but Jesus was always preaching in the street to common folks, or on the Mount, or to fishermen--all kinds of places except in congregations. Congregations came with Paul later on in the Book.
But we have commitments to congregations, I know, and it's hard to let work separate us from them. I'm tired, though, and I need a rest, I have to say. And it sounds like you need the pay for working Sundays. So we're both having to weigh our options for what's best for us. Let me know what you decide. I'm really having to sit with this myself.
