Preparing for exposure therapy
mujicaptsd
I'm asking for support because over the last few days I've had PTSD flashbacks poke their way up through my day to day activities. I've told a couple of DS PTSD members in private that I think it has something to do with anticipating my trip to Uruguay. Joyous as it is, it's also challenging to be at some of those places I nearly died. I'm taking the approach that the need to prepare for that exposure therapy is the reason, then. So I'm trying to get a lot of rest and relaxation before I take the trip on a week from now. And I'm requesting support here, too, in preparation. Thanks.

I did the dumbest thing today. I charged my earbuds, unplugged the block and put the block in my little bag instead of the earbuds. I wasn't happy about that when I got to the gym. What a dummy!

I am simmering in the muggy Illinois heat and surfing the weather forecasts in the Southern hemisphere for cooling thoughts. Temps in the 50s in Montevideo today. . . Remember to pack sweaters.
Easy does it, muji. You can do this.
Suddenly, I guess I got a good night's sleep and got up on the right side of the bed and realized it's a vacation trip and I can just enjoy it. Geez, how silly. So I leave in a week from today and I'm looking forward to it. It's an 18 hour trip, what with layovers in a couple of airports along the way, but I can handle that, too.
Wow, was I ever getting whiny over here. Glad I snapped out of it, and thanks for being there for me.
Then I dragged my aching bones back to my lair, and dropped them on the couch. What's up with how run down a person can get from Monday to Wednesday, huh?
I'm going to be sure to get good extra sleep the next 2 nights to see if I can beat this. After the weekend, Tuesday, I set off on the big trip which will be 18 hours of planes and airports from Dulles in DC to Carrasco airport in Montevideo. I can do it achy and exhausted, as I've done it before, but I'd much rather be rested and chipper.
The first line of this one translates:
"I come from a place lost in the south of the globe
...Montevideo!"
