This stray dog was walking alone in the cold rain on the side of the road. So I grabbed her and took her in. She's sleeping now, but she is having nightmares. Barking growling, snapping her jaws and pawing in her dreams. Scary memories. PTSD

I don't really know how to label this but I having a rough week and I can't say it's one thing.... I have a lot on my plate which is nothing new and I try to cope in many positive ways and do but I still have my moments. My kids more so my daughters talk to me about everything which I know it's cause of comfort and we are close.... however I really struggle with the venting about their dad which...

I did the dumbest thing today. I charged my earbuds, unplugged the block and put the block in my little bag instead of the earbuds. I wasn't happy about that when I got to the gym. What a dummy!

I also believe that helping animals heal provides me with more healing mojo than any other remedy I have found. The healing of one is the healing of us all.
Still ....... Glad you found it
And, yes I think dogs can get PTSD too. I don't know what it looks like when dogs dream, since I'm not a dog person. So, I can't say if this dog necessarily has that. But totally I think they can get it.too.
Peace and blessings.
Anyway the dog is safe with me. Warm dry and well fed. I don't know if he has PTSD or some form of palsy. He seem healthy though, other than twitching, snarling and snapping in his sleep. Just like I do. Only I kick and throw punches while having ptsd related nightmares. Which is why I can't share a bed with a woman. But I digress.
In another post I said I've been living alone for 8 years and I'm an extremely lonely man. That is a fact. I want to adopt him. I want a furry companion to love. But that is illegal. State law requires me to contact the shelter within 24 hours, and I've already kept him 2 days....
I'm searching online for his owner, and will print out some flyers. His owner is probably not far from me, and worried a cruel fate befell their poor pooch.
I'm struggling to make a decision. I'd rather he not wind up at the shelter, but that is the law, and his owner may be fretting while I waste time drinkin beer and petting their dog, and if he has a microchip implant, the shelter chip scanner is the only way to determine who owns Friday.
That's what I'm calling him. Friday Desert Storm. Because I found him wandering around in a storm, in the desert, on friday.
No Robinson Crusoe reference, as my Seattle friend suggested. The dog is not my indentured servant. Also no military combat vet ptsd reference implied.
But he looks like a Shiba Inu to me. So his real name is probably... "Saki" or something Japanese.
Anyway, even if I am breaking state law... I've decided to keep him a little bit longer, while I search for his owner on facebook and multiple lost pet websites. However I will contact the shelter tomorrow, to ask if anyone in my area called them to see if they have a Shiba, or possibly an Akita Inu in stock.
Meantime I shared photos of Friday with a friend and she said... "Wow that is one ugly dog."
To which I replied... We're a perfect pair then. Two ugly stray dogs nobody wants.... wandering lost and alone....
Please, do not say what you're thinking.
You're thinking.... somebody wants, loves and misses Friday, But nobody wants loves or misses YOU, Oyster.
