My Off-Topic posts are something of a therapy balancing tool for me. Hobbies, creative outlets, etcetera, etceteri. I have yet to meet a professional therapy program which doesn't endorse it by one name or another.
I am still learning how to brood feather babies. I have grown quite passionate on the subject. There are lots and lots of backyard chicken groups where I have been nurturing the budding hobby. I am not at all sure I really need a more supportive environment for it, but. . . I find myself wanting to share here. Not quite sure why. I don't because there are quite allot of forum members who trigger viciously on the subject of back yard poultry. Each has their own reason(s) for not wanting the subject in their support environments. Fair enough. I respect that.
But still I am not entirely at ease with it. Not quite sure why.
Thoughts? Reality checks? Opines? Soap box rambles?

I did the dumbest thing today. I charged my earbuds, unplugged the block and put the block in my little bag instead of the earbuds. I wasn't happy about that when I got to the gym. What a dummy!

Ever since I stopped doing therapy because of insurance, I've been feeling that old tense and irritable sense of anxiety and stress. I hate that. I was making so many strides and changes during therapy, my therapist would acknowledge all of my progress and accomplishments, and I miss that reassurance. Today I thought about it, and I made those changes! She would always tell me that I chose to...
Not everyone will agree on everything, so doing what is best for you is good. Hobbies and skills are as different as everyone here. I enjoy the shares and vicariously get to feed the chics.
But. . .
Guarding the flock comes quite natural to her. Don't mess with her feather babies. Even sharing the eggs is quite allot to ask of her.
I can hardly eat commercial eggs any more. They taste funny. Haven't bothered to analyze why.
BTW, I'm out of eggs, could you send a dozen over?
They'll be here when you swing by. Youngest son just took enough to share with the in-laws and I still have more than I can use before tomorrow's produce. Don't forget to bring an egg carton. The birds don't seem to lay many of those.
Somehow when parents tell their kids about the birds and bees, they seem to forget about the livestock...
There are quite a few members of DS who are offended by poultry for quite a variety of reasons. Only one of them has spoken up so far. I cannot speak the depth to which it pains me to cause pain to members of my support network. Even one hurt heart is too many for this crusty old warhorse. I've seen and caused enough hurt already.
BTW, is anyoen else at all amused that my BIL with his Duke Uni degree can't figure out that unfertilized eggs won't hatch?!
I'd enjoy spreading grain for them to eat... Do they come up to you Arf in a friendly way?... I like birds to
I feed the birds and the squirrels here and they know me now... Multitudes..ha
My dad became a vegetarian watching one of the video's, never touched it again and he was a huge carnivore. My aunt and uncle were even angus cattle farmers. Maybe a trigger warning? Vegetarian TW? if its going to be about the processing. just an idea, someone might come up with something better.
Ya Patti, a lot of people don't realize that eggs are not anything but eggs unless they are fertilized, just like ours. We women carry eggs but they are nothing but eggs until fertilized.
Also on the cows, heifers do need to be impregnated to create milk. its one of the problems i have eating dairy because they have to fool the cow they are still in weaning phase. at the same time, you stop milking a cow it can get very sick and develop mastitis, so its kind of a win/lose situation. i learned about the heifers able to have horns because of the polling (genetics) from my aunt. it is informative information. So much kids can be learning!
I eat eggs and dairy, try to keep it as organic and cage free as possible. i have never had a farm fresh egg. I heard they are yummy but i also wonder if they would be more gamey tasting.
Suncloud, i have a little environment around me of squirrels, birds and even a pair of geese. love it too!
Youngest son and I speculate that the all natural pills come from introducing German tables (masculine) to Spanish tables (feminine). Organic tablets would be the natural result.
