The bee swarming action I initially posted under "Hive Way Robbery" (http://www.dailystrength.org/c/Post-Traumatic_Stress_Disorder/forum/19473381-ot-hive-way-robbery) is still going on. We are still not certain what it is and my photo-journaling of the action is still going underway. This particular photo-journal is far more informational than artistic. Since we don't know what is happening, I am snapping photos like a mad-woman in hopes that comparing the image sets will offer some clues. My guess of the day is that we are seeing the results of over-population. We already knew we needed to do hive splits, but have been post-poning it until we can have confidence in the hive locations.

Anyhoo, our beloved donnawanda asked when bee ball pictures would be coming to DS. Here ye be, donna. I uploaded two pictures. One of the first day ball, the second from just this morning. It is the progressive degradation of their organization and the intimidating number of bee corpses which make me think I am witnessing the death of a swarm. A deep inspection of the hives revealed no obvious signs of distress within the hives in question.

I'm not donnawanda, obviously, but I thank her for asking for these photos and I thank you for providing them in a way we all can see them, arfie. It truly is inspiring to witness what that documentary called "the secret life of bees" through your lens. Life can be lived so fast on the macro level that we don't see these micro worlds all around us. It helps to get that perspective, what the poet William Blake called "to see the world in a gran of sand." To be reminded that there's more life around us than we know, going on all the time.

Thank you, Arfie! I have no idea what I'm seeing there except a large mass of bees, but it is interesting indeed. Keep 'em coming! It seems there are many bee aficionados among us ; )

There is so-o-o-o much to learn. I stand humble before the task.

Bees could be the poster children for co-dependency. Hive logics are profoundly mysterious. In a formation such as the day one formation, they do seem to be remarkably docile. It is as if losing one another is the only threat on their worry list. The three swarms (not counting this swarm) I have handled so far looked allot this. I wore protective gear for my own peace of mind, but I didn't need it.

The day three formation is kinda scary to me. In general, bees in this formation are bored enough to pick fights for no particular reason. In general. In this particular sequence... Still I do not know what I am looking at. I am getting ready to go sweep up the latest batch of bee corpses and see if I can gain some more clues from those.

    I did the dumbest thing today.  I charged my earbuds, unplugged the block and put the block in my little bag instead of the earbuds.  I wasn't happy about that when I got to the gym.  What a dummy!
