Please if you do use these sites take precautions. Get his 1st last name phone #. Meet at a restaurant. Ask what they're driving. And be sneaky and look at their license plate #. I always memorized it in my head, excused myself to the ladies room and texted it to my girlfriend who I had given the other info to. You can't be too careful. The guy who assualted me, we had gone out on 7-8 dates. Please, please be careful by taking the precautions that I told you about.

Honestly, I don't like these online dating websites. I think it is fake. I tried POF a year ago and didn't like it. I realized that people there were usually liars. Of course, you could find there good people too, but I think that most of them are liars. I prefer to meet real people in real life.

Never used them myself, just because they didn't exist when I was single, but the three happiest couples I know met that way. Makes me think the dating sites are worth a shot, but all 6 of those players will add another caution about the risks. I have friends who use pof and like it. My sister liked one (something about bees) because the guys can’t contact you, the women decide who they want to contact. I have heard that you get what you pay for, so the free tend to not be as good. Either way, I think it takes time to weed thru the bad apples. Agree with the meet in a public place and make sure someone else knows.

oh god, they work well, used them before myself, you always have to pay to make them work, be sure to have a good description of yourself and what you need , the more nice pictures the better. read others profiles , and get ideas from the ones you like. describe yourself dont be plastic. google the best dating sites, be careful watch for scammers,

after becoming aware of scammers i found they use a pattern for sweat heart scams.
(1) they will always use gmail, because there IP address is secure, with your IP address known a person's where abouts can be found easily.
(2) for chat they always use hangouts, for same reason above
(3) they avoid giving out personal information so they can avoid unannounced calls and escape without any repercussions
(4) They always have a good reason for you to send money.
(5) they are always very attractive
(6) they use a very common name, that has lots people using it.
(7) if you search for them you never can find them, its like they dont exist
(8) the simple truth law applies, if its to good to be true then its probably not.
(9) they usually will have an excuse for all red flags above.

I absolutely think you have to take precautions and take your time however I think there is good and bad everywhere

Should you decide to join a dating site I would recommend you do your research! I have used eharmony and I that is where I met my husband. Definitely take precautions because whether it is a paid website or not you will get creeps and scammers. If you meet someone do it publicly and let friends and/or family know where you are and who you are with. Trust your instincts and take your time!

Thanks for all the advice everyone. I'm really nervous. I had 4 family members in my county die (not dating related), 2 of which I was taking care of in the last 10 years so I've never dated. Now my mom has stage 4 cancer. It's hard being an aspie with chronic depression and PTSD to even meet people. I don't have a positive outlook on life.
