No, this is not OT (Off Topic). Not for me, anyway. I believe a great percentage of my strictly personal psychosis spirals through the effort to find agreements between my physical senses and the words available to speak those physical senses. Trying to get my physical senses to align with words? Triple howl ouch! Please tell me how to be "Cool" in a Texas baked parking lot. Especially when walking past a snow country immigrant blasting their car AC in the attempt to pull it off. That is enough to make me wonder if we are looking at the wrong end of our vehicles for the source of global warming. Those AC compressors are HOT. Or is that "Cool" to the Cool Cats?
Despite my advanced years (no, I am not "Young at Heart." My heart is as old as the numbers on my birth certificate and I value my experience. Please don't youthenize me.), my memory continues to improve as I continue therapy work on my Trauma Induced Amnesia. I earnestly believe my memory functions are continuing to heal from the continued work. Proofs unavailable. With the continuing return of my childhood memories, I find myself wondering if my early speech defects really were psychosomatic. My ismic-hopping base conditioning (everything from Aetheism to Catholocism to Born-again-ism to Whateverism) contained quite allot of conceptual word plays. Enough to bash a child's faith that ice cream is yummy.
I started this post with a fair confidence that I had found the words to express this particular, strictly personal snotty knot. Now. . . Me duele a la cabeza. I am no longer so sure what I am reaching for. Words are failing the challenge again. Think I'll go back to Creative Writinc Class challenge of trying to describe the taste of strawberry ice cream to somebody who has never tasted a strawberry, milk or ice. My therapy journal contains more than enough to make a multiple volume book, if I ever gain enough stability to pull off the re-writes. I have been calling the still unpublishable works, "Know No Knot Not." Alas, I still can't read, much less edit my therapy journal without getting lost in flashbacks. Works in progress. . . Sometimes I call it, "Know No Not Knot." Or is that, "No Know Knot Not?"
Thoughts? Opines? Reality checks? Sense and sensibility? Padded cell?

My day...today...misplaced my debit card...didn't realize it until I got to the register after shopping to a full cart. Used a different debit card and pulled apart everything looking for missing debit card before I left parking lot. Got home, dropped keys. So now I have a missing debit card, missing keys. A full cartload to unload and put away. I got everything put away.Dumped purse for a...

Welcome to the Perseid meteor showers, the "biggies" usually every year. (The Leonids beat 'em one year IMHO).AND today much of the northern hemisphere will see 5 to 99% solar eclipse. How cool is that? Your best bet is to be in the UK or norhtern Spain, where totality is excellent before sundown. Me, I'll get a super duper tiny itty bitty slice of it, so little that it won't be noticeable. New...

Seriously, I have teenagers, so wordplay is my life. Underneath it all...what is...is. Wordplay is just spin. Consideration, understanding, love, compassion...really aren't all that complicated. That said...they are all skills...that take learning and practice. Easiest learnt while growing up with kind parents to correct and guide. Much harder to learn on your own.
Learning to live with my own issues....that's the hardest of all. Hugs, Patti
All of that ramble to say, words is just... words. No language expresses any emotion or idea sufficiently, b/c those tap into the parts of our brains so far in th epast that language had not yet evolved. The two parts of hte brain can't talk to each other, literally, as in not-neuro-connected, so how can we ever express?
We can try. That's all that anyone can do, Arfie, and that for me is all the victory and triumph that is needed. To keep trying.
Much hugs, Leo.
Never seen anybody from any region skiing. Can't handle in season tourist scenes of any specialty, be it arctic or tropical. Off season, resorts can be quite nice, but in season. . . Not this beaten crazy bitch wolf. Triple howl yucko.
but to address afrie, your search for words to express what seems like a lexicon barrier. i started writing very young. poetry short stories. i also would read anything i could get my hands on including dictionaries. soon my vocabulary was huge. still is. this was my escape, but also defense. the abusers were always calling me a lire and twisting my words. me knowing the literal usage of words was necessary. in my writing it enriched my work.
now however my huge lexicon creates twitches. i am always on edge looking for the "right" word and so frustrated with "putting it in layman's terms"
i think because i was in an environment where i could never trust words (even my own) it makes it very difficult to use them to express anything i want to keep safe from the chance of pain. this puts a barrier between me and others. as well as a lot of me trying to figure out how to figure it out.
if any of this rings true? i hope it helps.
Yes, gypsy, I think you are very much working my puzzle. Since I was approaching adolescence before I talked on a regular basis, I quite literally wrote fluently before I talked fluently. My vocabulary is huge in two languages. I don't even know how many different language dictionaries I have on my library shelves. I can't skip over a word -foreign or domestic- without looking it up. Add in the dialectics shifts from the geographic instability and I have learned to tailor my speech to whomever I am speaking with. I don't expect a dishwasher or Medical Pro to know what a "dialectic shift" is.
I agree with the shrinks who have called this quirk, "Over-compensating," but still. . . It niggles. . .
I have been in a rough patch with hubs over the FIL situation. He is been feeling allot of guilt pangs over how long it has been since he has spent time with him and how much he still doesn't want to go. Whenever we talk about his paternal yaddahs, we spend most of the discussion on political corrections. A tendency I believe he inherited from his father. When confronted with an emotional issue, they concentrate on what it is NOT. Or is that, "What it is KNOT?" I am never sure if he is saying, "I know" or "Aye. . . No!" Whichever phonetic he is using, it dominates discussions of his father. Sure gets frustrating.
MINT CHOCOLATE CHIP RULES!!!!!
***Food fight anyone?***
Over a bowl of research, of course. Splat. . .
P.S. Just had to try the "Update" feature. . .
P.P.S. It works. We get to edit our responses now.
P.P.P.S. Still don't get to edit the original post. Damn.
Dad's get old , so the son was told. The days will come when the dress shows his bum.
Wouldn't waste the nectar on 'em. . .
The local natives often speculate that the quickest way to get the snow country immigrants to go back home would be to outlaw air conditioning. The lightweights would be gone before the end of the first May. They could then start digging through all this "Progress" to find their long, lost Texas.
Townies can be so cruel, whatever the regional tough spot. I don't think this crazy old gypsy will ever understand townie logic. Be they Texans, Andeans, Asians or Whateverans, Townies are all crazy in my nomadic senses.
Speak of words... "progress".... One man's progress is another man's heresy. What does that leave women? I don't know. But I am sorry I didn't grasp your OP's intent.
