My 2nd loved one has COVID-19 now
After yesterday's virtual service using Zoom, I went into start my work week teaching online without a break, but then things went bad related to school today, too. My best buddy at school was orphaned as a kid and therefore raised by his aunt. Since I don't have family around, when she moved into a nursing home 4 blocks from school, I took to visiting her on my drive home. She's a great lady.
Today she tested positive for COVID-19. My buddy has called me 4 times about her today. It doesn't just suck that it might kill her, it sucks that we can't hold her hand as she struggles for her life with this at age 94. She may not die, I know, but if she did, my hospital chaplain's motto is "no one dies alone." My friend Deb died March 13th and we couldn't even have a memorial service for her. In my 8 years here I have never written that I have tears in my eyes as I'm writing this, but I literally do look like the emoji below right now. This is all wrong.
