What is "music therapy" to you?
I started music therapy while the dinosaurs were still laying eggs. It was actually for my speech defect. Therapists were finding that music and language work from different brain centers. I was being trained to sing what I could not say. This simple beginning grew into using live tones of musical instruments to reach and speak places words cannot go.
Simply listening is a wonderful experience, but it is not therapy. My own music therapy is highly interactive. Even songs I steal have to be thoroughly self-customized to the wounded places of my psyche. When it does, the sonic resonance seems to massage psychic aches and give them healing comfort.
But that is me...

But, over a month ago, she couldn't take my insurance anymore, and I had to stop...
It has brought a new question to my PTSD/bipolar table:
Am I prone to musical psychosis?
I do tend to lose myself in my musical instruments when I am in crisis. I consider voice a musical instrument. One which THEY cannot take away from me.
Just thinking. For my son and his family I am evoking my "Ears open. Mouth shut" mantra.
